Etiquette ?

I hope this doesn't start anything too - heated- but I really am curious... Several posts recently (and just plain lurking) have me wondering more and more about forum etiquette.

2IF doesn't see much drama but we've had a drive -by, an impatient post, etc.

So what else is considered "bad form"? I really do not know and I'm curious.

I'm a puppies and rainbows kind of gal for the most part, so I have nothing to add but will pay attention to this thread so that I don't go on anyone's shit list.

Back when I was just starting forum life and trying to figure out what was what, the best example I read was pretend the forum is a group of friends standing in a circle and you're the "new girl." What should you and shouldn't you say?

I think it really depends on the board. Lurk and learn is a good policy for worried newbies. I think most of the regulars here are pretty savvy to 2IF etiquette. Plus, this is a really easy-going group. We do seem to "get" each other- I don't side eye on this board like I do on other boards, not with our regular posters.

It's just like in real life- know your audience!

In my opinion, People shouldn't join 2IF during the 2ww, regardless of how long you've been TTC.

In my eyes, its a drive by. At least join at the beginning of a cycle, and save us from your BFP right after you intro.

Oh- dirty deletes are always considered bad form and get called out big time. Especially on the boards with really angry posters.

I must have missed it? I still feel very new but I try and post when I really am lost or I need strength. I find the women here on 2if are awesome at commiserating and giving advice- as well as telling it like it is (like when I get lost on my days my math gets called out and I get a reality check- lol- it's good!!). Also- we have a wealth if experience to draw from and that I think, while usually sad in the fact of it- is helpful in bonding! I think jen071407 said it right and I only add that typing loses some of the sentiment so I try and read things a few times before responding so I am not casing issues. I know if someone posted- they are probably looking for support like the rest of us.

Give support = get support.

Intros are a good rule of thumb. Lurk, learn then post. That's my motto and I agree with posting at the beginning of a cycle.

I agree with this. Don't intro smack dab in the middle of an IVF cycle and graduate in 2 weeks- that was fun wasn't it?

I think its when you post stuff, and then go back and delete it especially if you got shit for whatever you posted ?

It is 100% bad etiquette to come to a INFERTILITY board, whining about not being KU in less than a year. Unless you are over 35, and even then I side eye people that have been trying for >6  - sorry, that is just my personal opinion, I understand time is not on your side- I am jaded. There are exceptions- obviously- if you had IF with when you were TTC your 1st, and you are assuming it will be an issue with #2, then I am ok with that- but if you come here intro, get tons of support, and get a BFP that same cycle, I am going to tell you to go fuck yourself. 

It is BAD etiquette to INTRO on a fucking IF board during your 2ww. So the chances are slim that this cycle will result in a BFP, but unless you are 1 million % you are NOT fucking pregnant, THEN DO NOT FUCKING INTRO. So fucking rude. 

It is BAD etiquette, to post on a board for support FOR MONTHS, get a sneaky ninja style BFP, and just bounce without even letting us know the deets, or at the very least, thanking us for being a support system for you during this most difficult time. Were you raised in a fucking barn? When you are actively participating in a group for an extended period of time, it's common courtesy to let people know when you are LEAVING.

Oh, also, if you INTRO at an appropriate time during your cycle (beg. of an IVF cycle for ex) and you happen to get your BFP on that first cycle- just go straight to the appropriate pregnancy related boards. When we've been on this board for MONTHS, and in some really awful cases years, a lot of us don't want to read about your instant board success.

We realize it probably took you a long time to get that BFP, but if you've only been here for ONE cycle, just take your BFP and go to your happy place. Don't rub it in our faces, when we've been here supporting each other for an extended period of time.

Type into google whatever your looking for i.e dissapointed gif - find the one you would like to use right click and hit copy image url. 

when your composing your message here on TB, hit the little picture box (next to the chain) in the formatting row, paste it into the box and hit submit
