Babies on the Brain

Preggers or Not? Maybe TMI

I feel like a total idiot even writing this. I am a mom of two kiddos and were had decided we were at a good place with our family. Last fall, 2012, I got pregant while on the pill, which I took by the book. After 8 weeks we lost the baby. It took a really long time for my HCG levels to return to normal, I had to have weekly blood tests to make sure the levels were reducing for a month and a half. An ultrasound revealed there was nothing left in my body, so no D&C needed. Fast forward to fall 2013. I stopped taking the pill and we used condoms after the miscarriage, then I had a dr appointment in July, where my dr gave me a depo shot. I bled for 3 months off and on, then stopped in October. I did not like the shot, so I did not have another. I did not have a period for the next few months. I have not been sexually active since September. I have taken 5 pregnancy tests, all negative, then had what I would call a normal period the end of December. Now I feel like I can feel a baby kicking, as I would be around 20 weeks along if I was pregnant. I just can't believe I wouldn't now if I was. I go to the dr again next Friday, but this is all just making me crazy. Anyone have similar situations?

  • Negative pregnancy tests don't necessarily mean you aren't pregnant. Ever seen the show I didn't know I was pregnant? I think it's highly unlikely that you are but yeah, I'd see the doctor.

  • I would tell your doctor about your symptoms and all of that.  I would think you would not be pregnant since you got negative hpt results and a recent period but who knows. Definitely discuss with your doctor.
  • If the pregnancy tests you used were outdated or you didn't use them correctly, then yes it's absolutely possible to get false results? Why is that so hard to believe? But as I said, HIGHLY unlikely.

  • It's impossible to be pregnant and have a period. You may want to visit your doctor.

Because its not a good idea to give false hope. The chance that she had 5 outdated/false tests and a period but is actually half way through her pregnancy is 0.
Well unless of course they're wondofos(sp?)!!!!

In all seriousness you had a period so...

  • I had phantom symptoms too. They were very strong (not flutters). It really freaked me out and felt very very much like kicks. Most likely, it's digestion related.

  • I've experienced phantom kicks off and on for the last year.   Mine were more like flutters than actual kicks, but it led me to take a few tests.  I doubt you're pregnant - I think you're just experiencing phantom kicks.  But see a doctor.

  • I would certainly bring this up at your appointment next week as this may warrant a lower abdominal/pelvic assessment from your PCP to rule out anything more serious that may be causing these sensations. It would be rare, but maybe something else is going on that warrants being checked out.

But yea, I tend to agree its most likely gas or something similar.

  • Eh, I'm 18 weeks pregnant and I still can't tell if I'm feeling kicks or just gas, so it wouldn't surprise me to misinterpret it if you thought there was a possibility you could be pregnant.  But since you've had a period, you can't be pregnant, but it certainly won't hurt to discuss your symptoms at your upcoming doctor appointment
