TTC after 35

XP Another running question...

For any runners/athletic ladies... has your OB or RE suggested cutting back on exercise while TTC?

I'm pretty athletic and my acupuncturist recommended that I cut back (and my DH is convinced that this is part of my issue).  I had kind of dismissed this suggestion... knowing that my BMI and body fat % are right in the middle (not on the low end) of healthy range. And I've never missed a period in my life. While I work out regularly, I'm definitely no ultramarathon runner or Olympic gymnast.

However, in doing a Google search, I found a couple studies that may prove me wrong (couple quotes below). Anyway, I'm just wondering what others had been told by their docs.

"It noted that recreational jogging -- only 12 to 18 miles a week -- can result in poor follicular development, decreased estrogen and progesterone secretion and absent ovulation."

"two groups who experienced an increased risk of infertility," "There were those who trained almost every day. And there were those who trained until they were completely exhausted. Those who did both had the highest risk of infertility."

Re: XP Another running question...

  • i'm a moderate runner as well. I run 4 times a week, for a total of 15-20 miles. I do Physique 57 2 days a week and rest one day a week. I told both my OB and my RE about my level of exercise. Neither suggested I modify or decrease my workouts.

For reference, I'm fairly small, 5'2" and 115-120 pounds, depending on where I am in my cycle ;)
BFP: 5/10/14 after 14 cycles of trying!
