Anyone drive a GMC terrain?

So we just got the 2014 terrain. We installed our car seat. We have the peg perego 30/30. We installed it in the the middle seat (in the back obviously) and I don't know if its the angle of the seat of the terrain or how the car seat is designed but its almost at an upward angle so when it goes to putting the seat in the base you really have to wiggle and push to make it get it and where the car seat is super wedged into the seat of the terrain. Does that make since? Also, it takes a lot of effort to get the seat out of the base because its wedged tightly in there. My husband put it on the side and it was much better, but I would prefer it to be in the middle seat. We plan on taking the car to a fire station, I went online and found which fire stations in our area inspect them. I was just wondering if anyone else has a terrain and had a similar problem, or if its just the peg perego design? I should also state for clarity if this is confusing, it is no where close to even being close to touching the front seats.

We also have a focus and it fits fine in the back middle seat. So I am not sure what it is?

  • If you are on Facebook there's a group called car seats for the littles. It's ran by. Certified techs and they are extremely informative and very helpful. Would be worth checking it out!

Hope you get the seat sorted!

  • I also have a terrain but I don't have that carseat. I have 2 kids now so I have 1 seat on either side. I haven't had any problems with my car seats fitting. Sorry. I know that's really no help.

  • We installed our carseat bases in both cars on the sides, because it was easier to do it that way, plus it's more difficult for DH to put his seat back to where he needs it if the seat was in the middle (I'm short so I can fit fine in the passenger seat without a lot of legroom).  I would personally prefer a better fit to the seat being in the middle, as it's not considered unsafe to install it there.

  • Thanks ladies. So we ended going to the police station near us, one of the "detectives" inspects the seats. I am so happy we went. He was very helpful. Even after reading both the car seat manual and looking at the car manual we had it installed wrong. We used the latch system in the middle. Most cars do not have the anchors in the middle they are meant for the side seats. He said its still fine to put the seat on the side with the latch system but the middle is safer. So we ended up using the belt system and kept it in the middle and it fits wonderfully. So happy we went. I highly recommend to everyone, it doesn't hurt to go have them check it out. We thought for sure it was installed right, and it would of been if it was in a side seat. It was quick and was reassuring. Its crazy I guess 85% of people install their car seats wrong. If they are installed wrong and you get in a crash the carseat company will do nothing because it was installed wrong.

All I did was look up and where I could take it and called and made a appointment. So happy I did! Thanks ladies!!
