Hi Ladies. I've been lurking on SAIF lately and starting to post here and there, so I figured I should introduce myself better and explain where I am in my journey.
Here is my back story, for those who don't know. I was diagnosed with PCOS in July of 2012 after a year of TTC. About 5 months later, I got a BFP with IUI#2. After I was released from my RE to an OB, one of the first things they did was genetic screening via bloodwork. We quickly learned that both myself and my husband are carriers for a cystic fibrosis gene mutation, giving our LO a 25% chance of having cystic fibrosis. Long story short, we ended up doing a CVS test and after 3 and a half excruciating weeks of waiting we found out the wonderful news that our baby boy did not have CF, nor was he even a carrier of the gene.
Fast forward to now, our beautiful son Dylan is 5 months old and even though we are certainly not ready to TTC#2 just yet, We are starting the process of gathering information and planning ahead (I do want to have our kids close together, at least thats my goal). In order to ensure that baby #2 is not at risk for CF, we are going to do IVF plus a predetermined genetic diagnosis, in which they test the embies before they are transferred, and do not transfer ones that would have CF. So I am going for a consultation with my RE next week, to make sure that I am a candidate for IVF, to talk about cost, the process, etc. While, as I said, we aren't ready to TTC now, we realize we need too plan pretty far in advance.
I'm also trying to figure out if there is another board where I would belong in addition to A13 (my birth month board). When I was TTC #1 I was very active on the 3T board. I know there is a secondary IF board here, but since I'm not doing IVF for IF reasons…idk.
Sorry this is so long/dear diary. Just needed to open up about all the thoughts swimming around in my brain and hoping to join you ladies...
