My 9 month daughter and I have enjoyed a wonderful and fairly easy breastfeed relationship, until a few weeks ago when she started biting when she started teething. She actually breaks the skin and its extremely painful. What was a very relaxing bonding time for us has become extremely tense for me and probably for her too. I've done research and have been only nursing in quiet dark rooms, watch and try to unlatch her when she stops sucking, offer a teether, you name it.
It usually happens at the end of a session, which is more convenient but just as painful. My bras are literally bloody. They also say try not to bottle feed during this phase because the bottle doesn't respond to bites, so I'm trying as best I can not to (I currently SAH).
My bf goal was 12 months and I REALLY don't want to stop until then. Exclusive pumping might work but would be a huge time suck and I can never pump as much as she eats (although that might be ok as she relies more and more on solids). I would also miss that bonding time. Makes me sad to think I'll have to stop.
Has anyone been in this situation? Any unconventional advise that I may not have come across? I feel like biting to this extent is not common. :-(
