Help me solve this mystery!

My nine week old DS2 went for his shots on Tuesday. He slept from 9:30pm until 4:20am. First time ever STTN. I attributed it to the shots making him feel sluggish. He had been nursing every two hours since he came down with RSV around 7 weeks. I was pumping some, to create less work for him. He was only taking in 2oz every 2 hours.

I've still been pumping off and on, because I have to return to work next week. He's still only taking 2oz. He is gaining an average of 28 grams a day, according to his ped. Plenty of wet and dirty. Until yesterday.

Yesterday, he never pooped. He seemed like he had a belly ache late afternoon. He grunted and fussed and nursed from 4pm until 10pm. I used the rectal thermometer to try to help him poop. Nothing. He just kept wanting to eat, so I would give him a pumped bottle or nurse. He spit up after almost every feeding. I was certain we'd be up all night.

Nope. He slept from 10pm until 6:45 am! Woke up happy. Still no poop. Nursed, but didn't empty. So I pumped when he went back to sleep. He slept until 10:15am and then drank all three ounces. Then he still wanted to nurse! He only did that for about 6 minutes.

Any idea what is going on?! Still no poop. Feeding schedule is completely different. He's never eaten that much at one time. No spit up this time. I'm pretty sure we already went through the 8/9 week wonder week.

If the mystery is the lack of poop…totally normal for BFed babies to go several days without pooping.  He's at the age when many babies "slow" in the poop department.  It could just be a one off thing as well.  I honestly wouldn't worry about it unless his poop is hard once he does go

He finally pooped yesterday morning. Hasn't pooped since. So I guess this is our new thing! I just assumed he would go every day. I have an almost five year old, so it's hard to remember all the little details from when he was an infant. And his sleep pattern returned to what it had been. I guess the seven hours of sleep was just a blissful fluke! Thanks ladies!
