I usually get my hair colored every 4 weeks for grey coverage. The past few months the color fades so quick and I'm grey again after only 2 weeks. Anyone else with the same issue?
I'm a hairstylist and we always warn clients that hair color can do strange things while you're pregnant. Never actually had it happen until myself though! It didn't even take the right color to begin with. The same color I've been using for years suddenly takes 2 shades lighter. So strange! It's just all the different hormones and things you have, they all come out in your hair. One thing I've found helped mine was to use a permanent color and then right after(or a day or 2 later) do the same formula in a Demi permanent color ( sometimes called a gloss). There's no ammonia is Demi's so you don't have to worry about extra chemicals. It basically just works as a stain. I don't know exactly but I feel like the Demi's take a little better on crazy pregnant hair because it stains and is not reacting like permanent color with the hair. It worked for me so I thought if share in case it helps anyone else! I'd be happy to answer any questions if anyone has any!
PS to Luna C, this would be especially helpful with reds. Reds have the biggest color molecules and tend to fade quickly even without pregnancy.
The grey is showing up sooner because your hair may be growing faster, I'm assuming because you are pregnant? But there's no pregnancy related reason that your color would fade, since that hair has already grown from the scalp and not affected by hormones. You will have to go in sooner to cover your grey, so I would ask your stylist to run a rinse through the rest to refresh your color. And have her recommend products for color treated hair!! There is always going to be something better than what you are currently using!
Re: Hair color fading so quick!
Yes. I thought I was imagining things until I saw your post.
I swear I colored less than a month ago -- all the red is gone and my roots are at least an inch long.
