NSAIFR: Lost Kitty :(

Our cat is missing. I don't think I saw him at all yesterday. Mh had bought new locks so had the doors open yesterday and the day before installing them. Luckily we are in Houston so it's not the frigid temperatures a lot of you ladies have been experiencing, but it's still 30s and 40s which he isn't used to.
He used to be a real outdoor tomcat when we lived in a more rural area. But from our last few moves, he has been an indoor cat. I'm mostly worried bc this is a new neighborhood. He doesn't know the area, and our neighbors don't know him.
Come home Simon!

Cats are pretty good about remembering where home is. Hopefully he will get board of his adventure and come home soon! FX!

Thanks @kmc84. I hope he does. He is kind of old, so I hope he didn't run off to die. I hope that doesn't sound crass. E loves that cat. Even if he merely tolerates her presence.

Aww im sorry.i hope he comes home soon. There are some tips that you can try to help him find the scent. One is to put his dirty litter around the outside parts of your house (backyard - furthest parts) also if he responds to your voice, try calling him outside later on at night when it is quiet and he can focus on your voice. He might be just a few yards from your house but the noises he is hearing is keeping him from coming home.

I hope he comes home real soon.

I agree with @PrettyAccountant though on the litter. I have also put food out to try and lure mine back with the smell.

My cat got out several years ago. I will never forget it. DH's friend had stayed with us and went out for a cigarette and did not close the door. The cat got out and we could not find him ANYWHERE, which was really disheartening because he was not a runner and I knew he wouldn't go far. I was convinced someone claimed him as their new pet. Turns out - my neighor several doors dwon found him and was a vet. So she caged him up and took him to her office...... She came home and saw my flier and called me. We got SO lucky - hope the same is true for you.

No! No collar. I know, we are terrible fur parents. But the cats never go outside and hate their collars. And once Sam got his stuck on something and even though it was a break away collar, he got trapped so I got spooked and ditched the collars.

Oh no. I hope Simon finds his way back home soon!! Our kitties are indoor too and we had a two day scare with Norman. He did eventually come back though. Hoping the same for you.

I'm so sorry! My cat ran away and was gone for a month, but someone found him. Post ads on Craig's list and the humane society.

hey i dont leave a collar on my dog so it. One time he was scratching and rolling on teh berber carpet at my moms house and his collar got stuck. Dog freaked out tried to get a way and pulled soooooooooo much carpet up. So never put it on until be walk,

I just got home, and still no Simon. It was rainy today and I really thought we would get home and he would be waiting on the back porch.

I'm so sorry.  Do you know your neighbors well?  Perhaps you could call around.  A few years ago our (strictly indoor) cat got out.  Because she was an indoor cat she never wore a collar, and a neighbor assumed she was a stray and took her in.  We ended up calling around to our neighbors to keep an eye out for her and thats when this particular neighbor realized she was ours and returned her to us.  

I know how incredibly stressful it is to not know where a pet is.  Good luck and keep us posted.
