DS has reflux but not enough for meds. I cut out obvious dairy (not hidden) because he had gas so bad and would stiffen and get so tight. I think it's helped some. Question for you: why a probiotic? I have actually considered it for my own gut. I've had issues since having DS. Did the dr give you suggestions on what to use?
There's a few mamas on here that have been in this exact situation, myself included. @AFwifelife is dairy and soy free and @happybride 276 I think is just dairy free, though there's a lot more.
We cut out all dairy, regular and hidden which is in everything. It took about 3 weeks to notice a real difference and probably a little longer before she seemed much happier.
We had to adjust meds too, we started on Zantac then went to Prevacid and then added Zantac back in at night.

Yep. Dairy free here, but I do eat some hidden dairy. I stay away from cheese, milk, ice cream, sour cream, and other things of that nature. DS is also on Zantac and Prevacid. He needed both medications to be comfortable. It also took about 3 weeks in order for dairy to leave both of our systems.
I cut out obvious and hidden dairy when DS was 5 weeks old. I also try to avoid obvious soy (ie soy sauce) as he seems to spit up more when I eat it. He's on Zantac, but I think we might be able cut that out now (waiting to see if he's gone up in weight enough where the current dose shouldn't really be helping anymore. We go to pedi on Monday).
It took about a month for us to see a huge improvement.
Earth Balance butter and SoDelicious Coconut French Vanilla Creamers are my top saving graces. Red Robin was great when we went out to dinner - they have an interactive menu online where you can put in what you are trying to avoid. We just make a lot more food at home. Oh! And Oreos are dairy free (they do have soy) - great for a chocolate fix.
DS has reflux but he is FF now. He's on a store brand of Enfamil AR (the thickened stuff for spit-up) which is milk based. The dairy doesn't seem to be an issue for him, he just has a lot of reflux/spit-up.
We started Zantac and it took a couple of days to notice a difference. It had gotten really bad by the time the doctor started him on it (basically refusing to eat and screaming at the bottle and not sleeping due to gagging and choking) so I think it took a few days for his throat/esophagus to heal and not have pain anymore.
Even though he still spits up A LOT he is not in pain and eats well. The spitting up doesn't seem to bother him and often he'll be smiling with spit-up pouring out of his little mouth. Haha, poor guy.
At his 4 month appmt. yesterday his Dr. recommended that if he's still spitting up this much by the time he's 6 months, we should take him to a specialist. I'm not really concerned as long as he's gaining weight and seems happy (he's on the skinny side, 26%, but is growing lots, 80% for height).
ETA: I also have him on a probiotic. It's a powder that I mix into one of his bottles once a day.
Lo has bad silent reflux. I'm curious why dairy? We go to a pedi go specialist and he said not to jump to dairy yet.
Now I'm still doing dairy, lo has always been gassy and his reflux is ok w prevacid 2 x a day. I still keep dairy as a thought but I don't know. I stopped it for 2 weeks with absolutely no change. His stools are off bc my supply decreased now it's going back up and I'm having to block feed.

Everything I read said that it can take close to a month to see a change, especially if it was in the diet for a long time. (2 weeks to leave your body and then 2 to leave the babies) If you are thinking it might be dairy, I'd give it another go but try it a little longer.
I avoid all obvious dairy and DD takes Prevacid twice per day. I thought it wasn't making a difference but then I had two slices of pizza and she was a mess the next day. So, no dairy for me for a while!
@313Meg I gave up dairy for 2 weeks also and I didn't see a difference with gas or reflux. I spoke with a lactation nurse today because now LO is also showing signs of food allergies and she recommended 3-5 weeks off dairy to see if it made a difference.
@SarahE22nd and @andjess11 my doctor did not say anything about cutting out soy! I got soy milk (Silk) over the weekend and have been drinking it since.
Its all trial and error, lol. I like almond milk for cereal and coconut for baking. OH! The 'fat' on the top of a can of coconut milk is a great replacement for heavy cream,
