Propping crib mattress for cough?

Hey girls, DD has the worst cold and cough. The cough is making it really hard for her to sleep. She actually napped for 2.5 hours propped up in my arms today.

I'm wondering if anyone has propped the crib mattress by putting a pillow underneath it? She still travels around her crib, so I'm also concerned that if she ends up at the not propped end, everything will rush to her head. Or will she maybe figure out the other way is more comfortable? Thoughts??

I don't un-prop ours anymore. Dry winter air and all, it is so easy for a cough and post nasal drip. I have found it best to put "What To Expect..." under there since it is such a thick book and sometimes a towel if she needs to be propped more. We used to use really thick phone books when I was in daycare.

I've just used a full sized pillow like Excited.

Ditto.
A nurse told us that their best sleep is right after they fall asleep so don't worry too much about them moving off.

Like @countrygrl5533, we keep DS' mattress propped up all the time now.  I folded a few receiving blankets and stacked them between the crib and the mattress.  He also sleeps with a fairly thin pillow and doesn't usually move off it anymore.  He did in the beginning, but I think he realized it was more comfortable so even if he moves, he usually winds up either moving the pillow or moving his body around but keeping his head in the same spot.
