Haven't done a Wednesday Poop post in a while...

How's it going ladies?  I'm on a fiber supplement and I'm stuck in that middle ground while I get used to it.  Pooping more regularly, but super stinky and gassy.  Lovely.

However! I am tired of DH spending an hour in the bathroom every time he has to go and hearing it (small house, one bathroom) and having to be the only parent while he's in there...so I'm sneaking him a supplement in his morning hot chocolate now!  He has no idea, and if he's not better with timing in a week or two I'll up his dose.  He has no clue.  It's delightful.

Let 'em rip!  (ha ha ha)

Re: Haven't done a Wednesday Poop post in a while...

  • I wondered where the poop thread had been! I am lucky if I go every other day and it's a huge production of at least 45 minutes to get anything out. I take Colace and fiber gummies daily, coupled with eating a high fiber cereal. How can that not help?! I drink at least 50 oz of liquid a day. I wondered this yesterday in the symptoms thread: how am I supposed to push out a baby if I can't even push out a poop? Argh!

  • Yesterday I was pretty psyched not only because I pooped, but it was relatively quick!  Otherwise it's been taking quite a while when I'm used to it being a pretty quick event.

  • I was pretty regular until I hit the second tri and now all of a sudden my body wants to be constipated... asshole (pun intended). After some god-awful gas pains yesterday I managed to poop but the gas pain are still lingering...
  • @Lilygrace48, brilliant idea! I hope it works out for you. Now I have a different problem with DH, he keeps eating my prunes and taking my fiber ("I like the taste of the prunes...") what the hell? He has his own!!!

    omg that's awesome!

I have been going nearly every day lately, but it's the slow makes-you-work-for-it kinda thing, so I ate Taco Bell yesterday and an hour later... bam. It's a better laxative than OTC stuff :)

Tacos and coffee are usually my go-to "all natural" remedies!
  • Maybe this will help.. My mom suffers from constipation and has for years...she's finally getting more regular, but has to drink 80 oz of water every day. Any less than that and she can't go. Fiber and meds don't help her. Just a thought to maybe increase water intake if possible

  • What I've learn is that the longer poop stays in your intestines ( your bowels are moving slower being pregnant) the more water that's drawn out of it. By increasing your fluid intake you should have an easier time making that sh*t happen.
  • Why is it one extreme or the other? Either I can't go for days and I feel like I'm literally sh*tting bricks or I have borderline explosive diarrhea with painful gas cramps? Happy medium please? I'm not sure which one is worse.... Nothing really seems to help, other than the time I forgot my prenatal for a week. I could go no problem. Then the doc told me my iron was low at my next appointment :( there's just no winning on the poop front.

  • The 1st trimester i was bound to maybe 2x a week but i was so nauseous I was only eating carbs.
Now 2 X in less than 24 hours!!
Try dried apricots for snacks & lots of water.
  • I don't know what is going on with me lately?! Throughout the entire 1st Tri, I pooped like clock work everyday. Now, for the past few weeks it is maybe every other day. Yesterday morning. I don't know what happened...not sure if it was poop cramps, gas cramps or maybe BH contractions (but I'm pretty sure it is too early for those). It was the most unbearable pain/cramps I have ever felt...the kind where you can't stand up and all I could do was curl up in the fetal position til it was over. I did poop in the middle of this and it seemed to start getting better after so I assuming that is what it was but it was CRAZY!

  • I have started eating fruit as my breakfast. Usually like a blueberry, strawberry, pineapple mix, and this seems to help keep me to at least every other day. I try to drink like 80oz of Water a day but it's to hard lately. I am so sick of water!

  • @Deems83 I am sick of water, too! I found that if you put 8 oz of orange juice in a 32 oz bottle and fill it up with water it is easier to get down. I can even trick myself into thinking I am drinking straight OJ if I try!

  • Okay, not poop related totally, but I feel this is the best place for this. I think I have an external hemroid that developed today. I had diarrhea for 2 days and then, This gem today. Is this normal this early in pregnancy? Should I speak to my OB or should I just get some OTC stuff? Recommendations on what works?

  • @JulieSmiles, hemorrhoids are evil and can basically happen at any time during a pregnancy.  I like the soothing gel stuff, and using wet wipes.  I buy store brand because it's cheaper, and the wipes I know I'll want after the birth so bonus already having them in the house (buy a jar, keep them in the freezer, omg frozen medicated wipes on your lady bits after birth = heaven).  For internal I use the suppositories, but those won't work on the external ones, huh?

  • Going twice per day since week 13. Who am I?

At week 13 I started going back to my normal diet where I usually have one enormous salad for lunch and voilá.

I did start an iron supplement today. Blood work showed I was anemic. Boooooo
  • This is the first week that I've started to become gassy and...let's just say...the opposite of constipated! I hope this is just a phase :-p
  • I'm going, but it's not anything to write home about.  I could go for a nice clogger right about now.

  • @bebemac thanks for the suggestion, I am actually going to try this. Hopefully it will help with my beverage boredom!

  • We got my daughter a step stool for brushing her teeth, and it doubles as my squatty potty. Yeah, she just walked in and looked at me indignantly, pulled it out from under my feet, and is playing in the sink while I try to poop without it. Toddlers are mean.

  • I feel like I wake up each & every day and ask..."will today be the day I don't have to work so hard for a poop?" I alternate my morning routine between a mix of Plumb Start & bran cereal or toast, Colace & dried fruit. Increasing my water & veggie intake has helped with creating something more than lame pellets.
  • I tried squatting, like my feet literally on the toilet seat (DH's advice). Got a pellet out or two, but still having to work way too hard.
  • I finally had a good poo today. Go back to doc Monday and I have a whole list of things to talk about this time. Fiber is on that list and which supplement is best!! I'm tired of not popping regular and I'm sure it won't be great but maybe I can get a little better!
