Happy HDBD ladies! Sorry I've been MIA. Back to reality & Chiberia after spending a couple weeks with the fam in sunny Florida.
Can't believe we now have mamas with outside "bumps" aka babies! Talk about a "shit just got real" moment! You all look great & the F14 kiddos are too cute! Here's mine at 34w3d
34 weeks 3 days. Getting real tired of DH's family telling me I don't even look pregnant unless they see me from the side. I know they think it's a compliment, but it's annoying hearing it every time I see them.
Errybody looks so cute! Especially those outside babies.
I wanted to play but forgot to take my classic "paint-by-number deer frame" pic. So I jazzed it up with some silly sketches.

I get told the same thing. I just smile, but I may start telling people that they can just stare at my ass then, if they want to. ;P

Wow, way to make Akrani self conscious about her bump size. She looks great - everyone shows pregnancy differently.
Have you missed ALL of the conversations about size and fears of IUGR, etc. that have been going on lately?

I really just can't believe this happened.
Agreed! Thanks for saying this because I was going to comment but couldn't figure out the right words without setting off my own anxiety about this issue.
36 Weeks and starting to FREAK OUT!! Baby girl is so big and I feel huge!! Hope she comes early!! Everyone looks great!!
Did you just say you want your child to come early just because you feel big? Pregnancy isn't all about you, it's about keeping that baby in as long as she needs to be there. There is very little pregnancy related that pisses me off more than someone selfishly wanting their baby to come early.
I've spent more time at work telling people I'm pregnant... Not 6 or 7 months like they think. Their eyes light up when I say I'm almost 9 months pregnant...as in 36 weeks tomorrow! I'm like "dude... I've been here the whole time!" No one really noticed I guess lol. I came back from winter break and surprised everyone!
37 weeks is full term. If she is feeling like she has had enough, then let her say it without being jumped on. the board is for support, should not be for judgement.
ps everyone looks beautiful in their pictures home stretch!
Wrong.
37 weeks is NOT full term (and she isn't 37 weeks anyway). 39 weeks is full term. Wishing your baby comes early (risking health issues) because you feel big is gross. Wishing it on a board with people actually having preemies and concerned about restricted growth is insensitive, and dare I echo you, unsupportive.
i think its being jumped on more than it needed to. i completely agree that it can come off insensitive to those who have had premie's but i dont think the poster had those intentions (at least i hope not). as a NICU nurse, 37 weeks is term- its actually "early term" per anerican academy of pediatrics. sorry that my response was misunderstood.
People made their disapproval clear, but no one "jumped on" her. No one was mean or nasty. Multiple posters told her why her two statements were inappropriate. This was no where near a flaming. If she was unitentionally insensitive, she does not get a pass. She needs to know why what she said was wrong and she needs to apologize.
@RondackHiker Remind me to contact you when it's time to teach Squirt conflict resolution. DH and I were both the types to throw punches to settle playground arguments, and I feel the same impulse as an adult. I feel like you'd be a good person to get advice from when the time comes.
There are definitely times punches have their place.
I have said in the past (only once) that I want my LO to come early BUT then I realized that was wrong. I want LO to bake for a long time, if she comes early then that's what is to be-not because I want it. Then I retracted by saying that I'm just so excited to meet my little girl, that I wish Feb 23rd would get here already. I thought maybe that's what she meant, but I just reread the comments and I'm just like ~sigh~ I don't post on here much, but when I do I'm always reading my words over and over so I don't offend anyone.

You're 8 months pregnant and a little change. You won't be 9 months until 40 weeks.
Ehhh I've seen it calculated a number of different ways. I feel as though I'm almost 9 months pregnant. One book I have actually says weeks 33-36 is month 9 and any time after that is considered "term". That's a bit of a stretch for me though.

So what you're saying is that it IS insensitive to preemie moms, but non-preemie moms aren't allowed to say it? As a preemie mom, it's incredibly insensitive. I would have loved to carry to 36 weeks. I would have loved even more to carry to 41. Hell, I would have loved to carry to 33. We've had a ton of preemie births and iugr diagnoses lately, she should be thankful that her baby is "big" and that she "feels huge" because it is not fun to watch your son need so much because he came so early and is small for his gestational age on top of that.
And as a nicu nurse, you shouldn't go around telling people it's okay to wish their babies come early. You should be the last person telling them that. You should know that babies should cook as long as possible, because even a full-term baby could need some time in the nicu.

Full term is not the same as early term. You should know that as a NICU nurse.
Making it to 37 weeks does NOT guarantee your baby is fully ready to be born. 37 weeks does not mean your baby would do perfectly on the outside and plans on just hanging out in your womb for other 3 weeks just for the heck of it. Wishing for your child to be born early is despicable to me.

How many weeks are in a year? How many months are in a year?
The answers are 52 and 12, not 52 and 13 or 48 and 12.
Pregnancy is not 10 months long, unless it's a whole year of Februarys. Please be smart.
It still doesn't change the fact that I've seen it calculated more than one way and yes, some of those ways consider 36 weeks the beginning of the 9th month. It's not about being smart. I am almost 9 months pregnant, just like I said initially. Thank you for the impromptu math lesson that didn't change a thing.
