Questions for Pumping Working Moms

What is your daily schedule, including:
  • How old is your little one?
  • How long are you gone from you little one?
  • What time do you pump?
  • What times does your LO take the bottles?
  • How much does your LO take in each bottle?
  • What time does your LO have solid meals
I am transitioning from SAHM to a working outside the house, and am trying to figure out a daily schedule.

  • My LO is 4 months. I leave at 6am, home at 8:15pm (14+ hrs). I pump in the car at 6, then 9:30, 1, 5, feed when I get home. My supply sucks, so I may have to add a pump at work. LO eats at ~7:30, 11, 2, and 5. She takes 3.5oz right now.

  • They are 6mo old. 3 bottles during the day and three pumping sessions. I'm gone approx 8am-6pm.

Pump at 11am, 2pm, 4pm. Bottles average 4oz each, so 12oz per baby. I pump an extra time am to make up for any gaps during the day.

We just started solids. No schedule on those yet.

  • These answers will really only be helpful to you if someone's LO is close in age to yours; my son is already 2.5yrs old and was 11months old when he started daycare, so how much and how often he ate was based on his age and size at the time.

    • How old is your little one? He was 11 months when I went back to work.
    • How long are you gone from you little one? 7am-3:30pm
    • What time do you pump? I nursed or pumped in the morning before going to work so to buy myself as much time as possible before needing to do it again (pumped if LO wasn't up yet)
    • What times does your LO take the bottles? This really depends on your child and his/her age and normal eating schedule.  My son took a morning nursing or bottle and then two during the day while at daycare, and again at bedtime.  However, before that, we started at every 3hrs and gradually spaced out feedings by the hour.  Also keep in mind that it's totally normal if LOs eating/sleeping schedule is a bit off for the first few weeks away from you b/c it's a transition to a new type of schedule.  You can't plan too much b/c you have to just go with the flow to meet his needs.
    • How much does your LO take in each bottle? By 11 months he was taking 8oz bottles.
    • What time does your LO have solid meals: every 3-4 hours.

    • How old is your little one? He's now 15 months
    • How long are you gone from you little one? around 9.5 hours
    • What time do you pump? From when I went back to work (3 months) to a year I pumped at 8:30, 11, and 1:30.  I would occasionally pump an hour or so after LO went to bed (around 9pm) if I was having a supply dip and needed more milk.  From 1 year to 15 months I pumped at 9:30 and 1.  Now I'm down to just pumping at 11.  We are using up the end of our freezer stash and starting to intro coconut milk.
    • What times does your LO take the bottles? From 3 months to around 10 months he would take three bottles at roughly the same times I pumped.  At 10 months he dropped the third bottle all on his own.  I made each of the two bottles a bit bigger just to get a little more BM in him. So he'd have breakfast at 8, bottle at 8:30.  Lunch at 11, bottle at 11:30.  Snack at 2. BF at 4:30 when I got home.  After a year, we changed the bottles to sippy cups and just offered the BM with meals instead of after meals.
    • How much does your LO take in each bottle?  He started out with 3.5 oz bottles at 3 months, but quickly went to 4.5oz.  He stuck with that until 10 months when he dropped the third bottle. Then I upped them to 5.5 oz.  That's how much BM/coconut milk I offer with meals now.  Some days he drinks it all.  Others he doesn't.
    • What time does your LO have solid meals 8:30, 11:30, snack at 2:30, 5:30

  • My lo is almost 4 months old. I drop off at daycare at 7 and am home by 6. He usually eats before drop off and then at like 9, 12, 3. I pump after morning feeding, 1030, 230/300, and then feed when we we get home, at bedtime (730), and then pump before i go to bed cause he will sleep through the night. His bottles are 4.5 to 5 oz. I pump more then he takes every day and so freeze probably 15 oz a day.
    • How old is your little one?  My LO is 6 1/2 months old
    • How long are you gone from you little one?  From 7 until 5:30ish but we usually don't get home until 6pm from the daycare pickup
    • What time do you pump? I pump 8:30/9ish, 1pm and 4pm at work and I just added another one at 10pm because my supply dropped.
    • What times does your LO take the bottles?   While he is at daycare, he takes bottles at 9:30ish, 1ish and 4ish.
    • How much does your LO take in each bottle? 7oz.  99% of the time he takes all of it but once in awhile he won't finish them but not often enough to reduce the amount I send.
    • What time does your LO have solid meals He just started doing three times a day.  He gets them about an hour after his morning and lunch time bottle.  At home, I nurse him shortly after we get home, and then about 30 mins after we feed him solids.  It usually works out that he nurses around 6pm and eats solids around 630.
