BFP, then BFN (and an intro)

Hey ladies. I used to post a long time ago but I've been out of the loop forever. I hear you can say shit now, is that true? If so, awesome. Here's my backstory: Aug 2012 I had a molar pregnancy, which was an absolute nightmare, and remained a nightmare until I was finally cleared to TTC again in June 2013. I have been having a crappy time TTC for various reasons ranging from getting my husband to understand why you need to have sex on certain days, to him just not being able to finish sometimes. These past seven months have been extremely frustrating for me.

I thought maybe I was finally out of the woods, when I got this: (11DPO, tested at night)


This morning, 13DPO, I peed on a digi because it was all I had. The window was blinking and then it just went blank. So I ripped it open, and the pee part was just a blurry blue mess. So I went out and got a FRER and peed on it at lunchtime today. Not even a squinter:


The positive test was not expired or anything, I'm not taking any medications. What gives? What are the odds that I would take TWO fault pg tests in a row?

Welcome back and sorry for your loss. I would try testing with first morning urine. Hope you get your BFP soon

I definitely see a line in that first test, but it looks off--like it isn't in the center of the test?  Did you read it within the time frame?

It is possible that you are pg, and your urine was less concentrated with the FRER and that is why it is BFN.  It is also possible that the first test was faulty and you aren't pg.  I've never used a digital, so I'm not sure what happened there.

Sorry you are going though this.  How frustrating and confusing.

That's what I was kind of thinking... like would a pregnancy just show up and then disappear so fast like that? Blahhhhhh this is so annoying! I'm already counting myself out anyway for this cycle yet again. Ugh.

With my chemical pregnancy the lines never got dark, but they didn't disappear either. I just started bleeding about 7 days after my positive. I agree with PPs, re-test with FMU. FRERs are the gold standard in tests because they rarely give false positives but that also means they aren't quite as sensitive as other tests. Maybe you'll get a line on one tomorrow.

Welcome! I am so sorry for your loss. I had never heard of a molar pregnancy, but just googled. How scary and heartbreaking!

I don't know what mine would be but last cycle I got a squinter the night of CD10 and a stark white negative on the morning of CD12 and then AF came a few days later. I don't know what it was... I almost think it was too fast to be a CP but it was rather confusing.

I really hope yours turns into a +HPT.

Sorry for your loss. I've heard molar pregnancies are horrible to deal with. As for the tests. Test again with first morning urine, pink dye(as you know). You can actually mess a pregnancy test up if you keep it in the bathroom or you may have had a bad test for the first one. Like a false positive. The digital test was obviously faulty since the screen went blank, it actually tells you that in the directions pamphlet. Good luck! I hope this is it for you!! ETA: two other possibilities your urine was to diluted for the first response or you may have had a chemical pregnancy. Those can be pretty quick you could have had a positive than start your period 2-3days later.

just wanted to say welcome back, FX that you get that BFP tmw morning. and i learned about molar pregnancy last semester in nursing school and wanted to say so sorry you had to go through that! seems like a very scary thing!

I've heard of a molar pregnancy and knew a girl that had one once, I'm so sorry for your loss.

When I had my cp I tested positive for a week then once the bleeding started it was negative the very next day. I wouldn't think this would be a cp because you aren't bleeding, but I'm no expert.

I'd test again in the morning, good luck!

Jerk store! Welcome back. In sorry to hear it took so long to recover from your mp and you've been having a tough time ttc.
The line in the first test looks out of place so my first thought it was an evap.
With my cp I got a super faint positive on a frer with a beta if 15. It was still positive 3 days later with a beta of 10. So they are super sensitive and if the first was a positive, I would expect the frer to be positive even if it were a cp.

Thanks guys! It's good to be back! Yeah, the molar pregnancy was horrible, and it's still actually kind of horrible. I'm terrified to pee on these stupid sticks. I'm scared that it won't be positive and I'm scared that it will be positive. I would love to put the whole thing behind me but I feel loike I can only do that once I'm holding a baby in my arms.

As for the first test being an evap line, I definitely looked at it withint the time frame. I stared at that stupid thing as soon as it touched the pee. It's possible that I did have one of those crappy tests that get the evap line right away. Guess we'll find out tomorrow.

Well, I got my definitive answer last night in the form of AF. it's actually a lot heavier than it normally is. Maybe it was a broken test, maybe it was a chemical pregnancy. I guess I'll never know. Oh and I'm just so excited that today is HDBD and my fb and ig feeds are like 86% bump pics.

Anyway, brace yourselves. There's going to be a lot of whining from my general direction.
