Milk consumption

How much milk does everyone's LO drink each day. I am wondering if DS is drinking too much which is why he doesn't eat a ton at meals. He will drink it non stop if I let him ( which I don't) and he will have almost 30 ounces a day of whole milk. I try to give water during the day and he just wants his milk and will throw a fit.

That seems like a lot. Based on our pedi and our hematologist recommendations they should get somewhere around 15-20 oz a day. I stay within this range because of LOs anemia issues. I also offer milk at separate times than meals during the day (per my pedis recommendation). LO is small and our pedi has us offer milk between meals so that LO will get calories from foods and not just fill up on milk all the time.

I don't measure. I offer milk at mealtimes and before bed. Maybe she goes through one sippy per day? She always has a sippy of water on the table that she can grab when she gets thirsty. Occasionally she will go to the fridge and ask for milk outside of meal times but that's rare.

She drinks 3 sippy cups a day - approximately 20 oz total.

The rest is water...

Probably around 16oz on an average day.  I offer milk 3 times a day (sometimes only 2 if we are not home). I offer it more as a snack, not during meals:  first thing in the morning, after their nap in the afternoon, and before bedtime. My LO's love milk but they know it's a treat and will drink water otherwise.  Since your LO doesn't like water,  I agree with the suggestion to water down the milk.

Also I have separate cups for milk and water.  I usually hide the milk cups so they don't see them and aren't tempted to ask for milk.

Thanks everyone. I definitely plan to talk to the pedi about this and try some of these suggestions.

This is pretty much us too.

Us too. I'm terrible at looking at how much he drinks.
