Preemies

Journey Through the NICU with Preemie Twins

I just wanted to share my experience with our twins who were born at 28 weeks and spent 52 days in the NICU. We were lucky enough to get them home on Christmas Day! It was a tumultous time in the NICU, but if there is one thing I can share to other moms going through this is that it won't last forever and to use that time as a positive experience by absorbing everything and learning what you can. As hard as those 8 weeks were, my husband and I feel like we were better prepared as parents when we took them home! It is definitely something special to have preemies... wishing all of you lots of love and happiness with yours!!

I created a video to capture our journey through the NICU with the twins if anyone would like to see. You can click on the link through my blog post...

Re: Journey Through the NICU with Preemie Twins

  • While it's awesome that you created this video, please stop posting the link to your blog all over the boards in practically every post you make.  Doing that is considered spam, and is a TOU violation.  You are more than welcome to put the link to your blog in your siggy.

It always makes me wonder why people come on the bump and never contribute to the community... all but 2 posts are her promoting her blog.

:-O I am on the preemies board, right?

Excuse the snark but I find it a little tacky that she's never once posted on this board but wants people to check out her blog.  Doesn't sit right with me and as Boston pointed out it's against the TOS to use the bump to promote your blog or sell things. Now if she was someone who has come to this board before I would understand.

  • I really have to agree with bromios.. I don't regularly post on this board but I look at it almost daily for support. I am working on a video of my son's NICU journey and first year for his birthday in March and thought this would be the perfect place to share the link and show his story. I watched her video and thought it was great whether I had to visit her blog or not didn't seem relevant.
  • If someone comes to be a part of this board then they are welcomed with open arms. But that's not what this poster did. She posted on multiple boards this exact same thing and has not been back at all. She was not introing or asking a question, she was self promoting which is against TOS. As a long time member of this and other boards I think this was handled appropriately and exactly how other boards would handle it.

  • Hi guys,

I just want to say I am really sorry if I violated the rules of this board. To be honest I have no idea what a TOS or a TOU is, but I apologize if I did something wrong.  It has been nonstop since the twins came home and now that my husband went back to work this week, I have had even less time to myself. I thought it would be good for me to find a forum with other moms of preemies to have a support network. So far all I've had time to do was post my story in this group and the NICU group to introduce myself. I'm truly sorry I haven't had a chance to write anything more or be more active on here. Today my Mom came out to help me so it was the first chance I had to log back in. I would love to be a part of this group, but if there is some kind of policy that I have to post a certain number of times a day, I may have to back out because life is sort of crazy hectic for me now that the twins are home. Thank you to all of you who were being sweet in defending me, I assure you I meant no harm. I wasn't trying to promote my blog... which, on that note, is actually something I am writing to not only share experience raising the twins, but to connect with other moms in the same boat and create a support system. That blog actually stemmed from my original blog I started when I found out I had Premature Ovarian Failure and was told I would never have children. Then when I miraculously got pregnant naturally with twins it became a support system for women all over the world and to this day I get emails from people from all different countries asking for advice and I always respond because there is nothing more fulfilling to me than helping others, especially those who are going through the same terrible condition I had. I say this because I want you to know what kind of person I am and that I was not trying to promote anything. I was just trying to seek out others who are raising preemies because being a first-time mom it is a pretty scary, exciting, nerve-wracking, wonderful thing.

I would love to still be a part of this group, but am hesitant as I said earlier about doing something wrong or breaking a rule. I promise I do really want to play an active part in the forum and will contribute as much as possible (especially once I have a handle on what I am doing as a mommy! lol).

Have a great night, ladies!! <3

    Sincerely,
    Cole

@ColeHay, welcome! You got off to a bit of a rough start but you are definitely welcome to stick around and be a member of this and any other board. Please take a minute, when you can, to check out the Terms of Service so you can make sure your don't violate them again. A siggy is the best way to promote your blog and video without PROMOTING it, if that makes sense. People who want to can click and look at it but its not a post specifically saying to check it out.

Sorry for the poor reception, but if you stick around you will see these boards are sometimes bombarded with people trying to promote themselves. We have had fakers who have advertised fundraising for preemies who don't belong to them and other weird occurrences. It's far from the norm, but it happens so some of us seasoned posters are a bit jaded. I apologize and hope you'll consider sticking around.

I have DOR and had my twin boys at 29w4d just over 21 months ago. This board is a fantastic resource!

ETA: There is definitely not a posting requirement.

  • Your video made me cry...tears of sadness that these pretty babies didnt get a chance to cook inside full term and tears of happiness that they are doing so well. I guess I'm super hormonal today. Welcome and stick around these parts, these ladies are great and can be a very good source of knowledge and support!
  • Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! I am looking forward to getting to know you and being a part of the group. It's a bit hectic here today... the twins had their first series of shots and don't seem to be feeling too well tonight, but as soon as I can I will look through the topics in the group. I am sure there is a lot I can learn from everyone here and hopefully I'll have some tips and tricks of my own to add!

    Have a fabulous weekend, ladies!
