Lurker.....with a question about Jacksomville FL

Hi ladies; I'm a lurker. As in, I've literally lurked since pregnancy! I was due July 5, 2012 but had her June 29. Anyway we've recently learned that we will be moving to Jacksonville, Florida this summer (July?ish). Anybody from around there that could give recommendations as far as neighborhoods, schools, etc? We have a daughter who is almost 4 as well, so preschools and elementary schools are super important. My husband will be working off of San Marcos downtown. We currently live in the KC Missouri Metro.....Sally I think lives close to me but I've never been brave enough to ask for a GTG! Anyway, any advice would be very much appreciated. Sorry for iPad formatting!

Re: Lurker.....with a question about Jacksomville FL

  • I think I will come out and play more often! Yeah we are pretty pumped about leaving for warmer places! My older daughter told me today she was only moving if she was pretty close to a beach. Whatever her and my souls are made of, they are the same! :)

  • Jacksonville is huge. As in, the entire county is considered "Jacksonville". I've only ever visited there, but I have friends who live there and love it. I'll ask around and get back to you. :)

  • Ack! Creeper alert!

JK man. If you want to g2g sometime before you go that would be lovely! Maybe we can hit Deanna Rose in the spring. That is, if you're really just shy and not a creeper. ;)

  • I really am just shy. I live in the suburbs on the MO side and we love Deanna Rose and are friends of the zoo! I am a speech therapist for a charter school downtown so I have a teachers schedule! I will be more active on the board and maybe figure out how to make a siggy even!
  • I am originally from Jax but have not lived there in years. I wish I could help with info on DC and schools. You may try to local board, north FL babies. They have a lot of jax posts there.
  • I am a lurker too. I don't live in jVille anymore but I lived there for 6 years. It is super spread out, kind of like KC. Traffic is awful. I lived inRiverside and Springfield when I lived there. Riverside is trendy boho neighborhood on the river close to downtown and San Marco. Springfield is a beautiful historic neighborhood with really old homes and a great neighborhood feel. It is literally downtown so commute would be nothing. Both have walkable shops, restaurants, and parks. The schools are great too. San Marco is nice but it is super expensive.
