Scheduled C-section Q's

When I was still on the table with my first (induction turned emergency c-section), I was told that the left side of my cervix is weak and that I would have to have c-sections with any other children I bear.  Bummer. 

Anyways, now that I'm pregnant with #2, I'm just wondering...how soon do they actually schedule your c-section?  Do they give you a tentative date? I've heard c-sections are usually scheduled in the 39th week, is that true?

i am 31 weeks and dont have a date yet. i know some people due around my time that have had a date for months

I was scheduled for 39 weeks when I hit third tri. It ended up being moved up d/t complications though.

Yes, typically scheduled for 39th week. As for when they actually schedule- totally depends on dr/hospital. Mine was just officially scheduled last week at my 33 week appt.

My hospital is super busy so my OB said we'll schedule around 20 weeks. They schedule for 39 weeks or later unless there is a medical reason to do it earlier.

I was given my RCS date at 35 weeks for a surgery at 39 weeks

My Dr gave me our c-section date in my first triemester. It was scheduled for 39 weeks. I'm 34 weeks now and she will be doing an ultrasound on Monday to decide if she wants to move it up (I'm measuring 40 weeks)

With my scheduled c section  we put it on the books when I was only 11 weeks.  But the c-section was scheduled for 39 weeks.

I was also scheduled for 39 weeks but my water broke at 38 weeks. They actually scheduled it at 32 weeks.

I scheduled my csection today (I'm 20w). When they schedule it for depends on why you're having a csection. But unless medically necessary they should schedule no earlier than 39 w. Mine is at 38w because I can't go into labor.

my second one was scheduled at 39 weeks but he decided to show up at 37

Mine was scheduled for 39 weeks to the day. I had a date when I was about 32 weeks...if I remember correctly.

Mine was tentatively scheduled for 37 weeks when I was 20 weeks due to my own medical issues.  This was, of course, pending results of a 37 week amnio.  DD was born via c/s at 37w 1d.

It depends on your hospitals schedule.

I scheduled my c section for 39 weeks 2 days when I was at my 32 week appointment, but I assume I could have done it at any time. Congratulations and good luck!

I knew from the beginning with pregnancies 2 and 3 that I would have RCS.  At week 28, we scheduled the C Sections for week 39. My regular OB only does scheduled Cs on Tuesdays and Fridays, so I had my pick. Also, because it's a ways out, I also got the first slot of the day, which I wanted - the 730am surgery.

Naturally, if I were to begin contractions before week 39, I'm to call the OB office and get myself to the hospital. They don't want me to labor AT ALL.

I scheduled both mine at 28 weeks one at 39w3d and the other 40w1d. I will choose how far this one will be based on when the doctor I want is on call same as with DD#3.

We haven't scheduled mine yet. We started discussing the last week of May, however we didn't realize that coincides with Memorial Day, when most people are going to be out and about. Will be discussing it with my OB during my next appointment, at which time I'll be 28 weeks and need to start nailing something down, whether we're going to go as much as 14 days before EDD or try to stick to no more than 7 days before EDD.

Not sure if it's different state to state but the hospital here will not allow women to schedule a csec before 39w unless it's medically necessary.
