Sticky stinky nasty

Baby hands! Why are they always sticky and covered in fluff from blankies and clothes? And have you taken a sniff? They stink!

How are you keeping your little one's hands clean?

I've been using baby wipes and when she falls asleep I pick all the crap out from between those teeny tiny filth traps. Anyone got a better way?

I haven't had this problem. Her neck is our problem area. I clean it all day and it's still dirty and stinky.

Same. She has clean dry hands and a wet stinky cheese neck from milk dribblage. No matter how much I clean it, it's always icky.

I don't use lotion or wipes though on her hands. Maybe using those things is why lint and stuff is sticking to your baby's hands?

No, it's because she sucks her fingers...no solving that.
  • We haven't had this problem... But we keep mittens on him most of the time.

I'm not sure my DD has hands. They're always under her mittens :)

Yeah my LO doesn't do that. Hmm. Maybe try the baby wipes specifically for hands and faces? Or get a bowl of warm water and soap and do a daily hand washing (rather than a full fledged bath).

  • Our problem is the neck and groin area. He has so many rolls and it's hard to keep it clean!

  • I'm in the mittens club. She always has a pair on. When we ran out of clean ones, we put socks on her hands :\">

  • I noticed this as well! We always keep mittens on and everyday I pick the lint out from between her fingers and wipe with baby wipes. And they are stinky and sticky too! They smell like her toes!

  • The hands and feet are his best parts...neck and chest smell like spit up.
  • Just wondering why people put mittens on their babies?

So they don't scratch, suck fingers, people can't touch them with germy hands! Many reasons. My kid however freaks the F out if I put them on him hahaha
I put them on baby so that she doesn't scratch her face. I take them off every now and then so she can feel and suck on them. I can't stand when people touch her mittens because she puts them in her mouth. I always have extras with me.

    Keep her hands warm.
  • @tarashae721 thanks.

It's just weird to me since hands are such a developmentally appropriate toy. I don't get the germ thing because unless you change them before they rub them in their face isn't it the same as rubbing bare hands? I dunno it's just weird to me.

Yep, same -- her hands are good, but it's her neck and armpits that are the problem....she has that gross smelly cheesy crap in there and it is tough to clean. She HATES when I try to wipe those areas and stiffens up so I can hardly get in there!

  • Hahahaha I was just picking lint out of his hands. They aren't sticky but lint heck yes!!!! I don't use mittens though.

I put them on her mainly to prevent scratching. It's also great for keeping her from pulling on my hair. Once she gets a handful, I cannot get it out! Then it just creates the risk of hair getting tangled between her fingers and restricting blood circulation.
