Parenting after a Loss

Success/Fail

Last night was a huge improvement from the previous ones, hopefully we are on the right track. This morning has been quite interesting. DH had to go outside and clear snow in the negative temperatures, so I have been alone with LO. We were lucky that school was cancelled and he can stay home today and not work. Anyway I had a major success and I am very proud. I was able to nurse DD on my own today, even if she only took 5 minutes on each side. She has been resting in her bassinet, so I was able to make and eat lunch as well without help. I can even bump because she is sleeping.

(TMI) Now for my fail: I pooped my pants. That really happened, I can't make it up. I have been taking stool softeners once in the morning and once before bed since being in the hospital. I have also had miralax once a day since leaving the hospital. I called the doctor and am waiting to hear back. This was my second bm, the first yesterday night was only a tiny amount. I keep telling myself that I am not the only one going through these things, life will get easier.

  • Around a week and a half after my csection I was doing too much and set myself back a little with the pain. Your body and how it functions will get back to normal soon. It took 8 days for a BM after my section! I felt so out of sorts in the first few weeks, and it was even worse with too many people around over the holidays allowing not even a shred of a routine. My guy went from 8.5 to 7lbs and the lactation expert was very helpful. I will still supplement for a while because pumping is still only producing an ounce or so at a time since I BF every 3 hours. I just do what i can- everyone is different. Just go easy on yourself as you both adjust. Hope you heal quickly!
