Bottle time!

Ok, if I have to be somewhere by 9am and my baby will likely need to eat at 9:30am, what's the best way to handle the bottle? Keep in mind I'll have no way to heat the bottle when I feed her at 9:30. My plan was to take the bottle out of the fridge around 8ish, leave it on the counter, and let it warm to room temperature so it's ready to go for her 9:30 feeding. Any thoughts?

Re: Bottle time!

  • If I'm on the go and want to warm it, I put it between my legs for 10-15 minutes if I'm in the car. If not, I set it out ahead of time (an hour or so) or I try and pump fresh and then not refrigerate so it is cooling down to room temp instead of having to heat it up.

  • Warming at room temp sounds good. My LC said that breast milk can sit at room temp for 4 hours as long as the baby never puts its mouth on the bottle (and then you have one hour to use it).
  • If your baby will eat room temp, PPs have good suggestions. If your baby needs warm, then take one of those thermos food containers ( like the soup kind) filled with hot water to warm the bottle with.
