Choosing between Top 3 Boy Names

My husband and I will be finding out the sex of our baby in a few weeks, and we've decided on a girl name but we are stuck between 3 names if it's a boy. We like all three, but I'd love to get some outside opinions to see what others think as well, and to see if perhaps we've overlooked some unfavorable name association or nickname that could deter us from any of our top three picks. Our last name is 3 syllables and starts with a 'G' if that helps inform your decision at all. Thanks!

  • I dislike Baron, but do like Byron.

Pierce William is strong, masculine and spelled correctly, so it gets a great big thumbs up from me!! :)

  • Baron reads very nouveau riche to me. Not a fan at all. I like Pierce the most.

  • Thanks for the input so far, ladies!

What about Fletcher William? Better/worse than Fletcher Hudson (or Fletcher Michael)?

William is a family name so we're considering it as a MN but would not consider it as a FN because we just don't care for the sound of it and I detest the nicknames Bill and Billy.

I do like Fletcher William and Fletcher Michael over Fletcher Hudson.

  • Baron is a title, Pierce a verb, and an unpleasant one at that, so I vote for Fletcher. But if I'm being honest I'm not a fan of that either as an occupational name (arrow maker), but the association isn't as strong as the other two because it doesnt exactly come up in conversation!

  • I had never thought of Pierce as a verb before this thread - this is exactly why I posted, because you ladies will help me think of the things I've overlooked.

We love Pierce in part because it has a similar preppy, "clean" sound like Fletcher, but is also the last name of my best friend of 15 years so there's a little sentimental value there as well.

    Keep the suggestions coming! :)

  • We have a Pierce so I obviously love that one the most.  Fletcher is nice too.  I think Pierce has a strong masculine feel.  I like that it is recognizable, but distinct.
  • Pierce William is definitely my favorite of the 3. Really don't like baron. I don't like Fletcher with husdon.

  • Just curious, what is gp?

  • I chose Pierce from the three.

A possible issue:  Google the obscene "felcher" which could be used to torment a little Fletcher growing up.

LOL, well this is new! I have to say though that I really doubt that association would be made with the name. Maybe I am wrong, though. Either way the heads up is appreciated. ;)

  • Really loving Fletcher William...   Much more than Hudson.     Baron is pretentious sounding to me as a title name and I don't care for Pierce at all.
  • I love Pierce.

I know!  I heard that one a long time ago.  Unfortunately, it would make Fletcher a deal breaker for me with that association, but it is still a cute name!
