I'm sitting here thinking about going back to work tomorrow and how 'I just don't wanna.'
I'm thankful for my job, I'm paid well for what I do, it's family friendly work place, I have "normal" hours, and it really isn't a hard job or very stressful. Its just that my heart's not in it as it isn't where I want to be or see myself retiring from. --- I manage training for the military.
When I got this position, I was really going after a public affairs job as I had just earned my degree in graphic design.
I'm back in college working on my Bachelor's in Communications. I have 7 classes to go, but I can only seem to manage 1 class at a time (they are 8 week classes), so I still have a ways to go. I don't even know what I'm going to do with that yet, but I'm hoping I can write, edit, or help others to write because that's what I like to do. I don't need my degree for the job I am in, it won't further this career, so I'm hoping to move on when I can.
What do you do and do you like going to work?
Re: Do you like your job?
Many things I seriously miss about working. But it is more rewarding (to me) to stay home

But I actually feel like what I do matters. Of course, it's still a job and somedays I dream of something else but the grass is always greener...
I get a lot of great advice from other moms, drs, nps, and of course, the obs. I love them so much I asked one of the obs I work for to deliver our LO.
I get paid well, I have normal hours, and have mat leave guaranteed for 1 year (I live in Canada). Every day has the same flow, but they are all different. I especially love seeing the new moms and babes after following their pregnancies for ~4 months.
If I had my druthers, I would do something that would allow me to work from home.

It's not my dream job, but I would still be bummed if I left. I get to interact with a LOT of different people on a day to day basis and I would miss that.
My dream job would be a SAHM with the ability to work there maybe 2 days/week or so. Since that's not an option, and daycare for two is going to be insane, I'm hopefully going to SAHM full time after babies are born.
However, I am currently taking a program that will be done at the end of 2014, so I can look for jobs within my current employer while I'm on mat leave so I can get a job that's stressful and demanding as my current one.
Today was unreal at work and this is the first time I've been this exhausted and sore since having morning sickness...
And the environment between the workers is UNREAL! So many catty women and the rumours and everything that flies around! Not a good environment at all!
I'm not new. I just hate The Bump.
I'd have to say my job is just okay. I am a writer/editor for an education company that develops standardized tests. I write a lot of website copy and newsletters pertaining to certain tests we develop. It's not a super demanding job (though it has its moments), I get paid well for what I do and I like the majority of the people I work with. I don't like the pressure I get to eventually take on a management role, because that is just not what will ultimately make me happy and I have watched the women in those roles on my team struggle so much to find time for their families with all the travel, so it's a constant push-pull between my bosses and me to let me stay where I am for as long as possible.
In an ideal world, I'd do something that got me out of the office setting and either a) had something to do with developing residential properties or b) allowed me to utilize my love of fitness without being a personal trainer / instructor.
