At the moment it's -17 with windchill at -29. I'm was supposed to have my pp dr's appointment today, but I was going to cancel it, instead the dr's office closed. So my DD and I are snuggled up on the couch listening to the wind howl, watching Downton Abbey. I'm so glad I don't have to go anywhere today, anymore.
I for one am loving the horrible cold! Because of it school was closed for my first day of student teaching so I get one more day of maternity leave with my LO!
The weather channel says it's 6 degrees here in SW Michigan but I think they lie. My car said -2 at lunch time and with the wind chill it's -20. Yes, I'm saying my car is smarter than most meteorologists.
We're supposed to see 40 this weekend. Some of this snow needs to melt. I'm running out of room to throw it and I'm too lazy to attack the mountain the plows buried my mailbox in. No mail for me. Fuckers.
Oh no. IF the postman can get close enough they put a nasty-gram in your mailbox to clear in front of it. My mailman can't even get that close to the mailbox. I just called the post office and asked them to hold my mail until I can either shovel or drive back and forth in 4wd enough times in front of the mailbox to make a path. The post office is right around the corner from work so it's not a huge deal. Just one more thing to put on my to-do list that I really don't feel like doing. It's cold and I just want a damn nap.
Day care has been closed the last 2 days due to the extreme weather and I paid for this week last Friday. Now I have to pay a sitter -- her head teacher at DC lives just down the street so she's watching DD while I'm at work. I know I'll get a credit for these 2 days but I'm kind of strapped this week and now have to pay the sitter, too. Stupid snow!
Seriously. It's about as hot as Satan's Armpit down here in the summer. Not as bad as like Brownsville or something, but the humidity is AWFUL. And you don't even get a nice beach to go to and cool off. However, when it is cold down here, it's awful because we still have the high humidity levels PLUS the cold air so you end up wet and cold and it just sucks. But damn you gotta love April and October (maybe November in a good year)
Ugh. I lived in Florida for 10 years and I thought it sucked there. The humidity is awful! I did enjoy mentioning that I was going out to mow my lawn when all my friends and family from the north were freezing their balls off, though. I'd rather shovel snow a few days a year than live in that mess again.
I don't know what I'd do if I moved away from Chiberia. The summers can be hot and humid and the winters really cold and dry, but I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE Chicago. When I go on vacation, I miss it so much that I have, on occasion, left my vacation early. Seriously.
I've really only driven through TX in December but it seemed nice. I don't know that I'd want to live in GA either but I love all the brick they build with. And, in Atlanta the MARTA is just scary.
I lived in southern oregon before i moved back to the midwest. Its beautiful but there is nothin in southern oregon.
My bd said it pretty well about the town we lived in. The boys join the military so they can leave or they drink and the girls leave with their military boyfriends or they stay and get pregnant. Its sad and true
I've only ever lived in northern IL area. I honestly would love to live else where, Seattle/Portland area would be the ideal for me. It's beautiful and from family/friends that live there, the weather is pretty mild, albeit rainy.
Re: Not looking forward to this...: (nbr)
But just to be an attention whore, it is currently 52 degrees and the high is 61 today. :-)

Eta: I hate the cold!!!
