It's go time...

After the longest cycle of my life (64 days), AF finally showed up today and is making her presence known. Holy cramps. Ouch. 

We spent a lot of time on the phone with my insurance company a few days ago in order to make sure things would be covered and to get a check list of what I needed to do. I'll tell you what, I am very happy I have insurance, but if money was no object, I would just pay cash! There are a lot of hoops to jump through, but I think we will make it work. To start, I had to chose a new primary care doc because the doc I have been paying cash to see for years does not accept my specific insurance. Fortunately, I live in a small town and had the recommendation from my parents to see their old PCP. I called and despite her not accepting new patients, she welcomed me with open arms. At first, I wasn't able to get an appointment until the 14th of this month. This wouldn't have worked because I need a referral to the RE (who is also in our insurance network), ASAP. When I explained my dilemma, the receptionist told me she would call me back after she stalked the doc. When she called me back, she advised me that they would be able to fit me in on Monday (tomorrow!). I truly think my cycle held out until we knew for sure things would line up...

So, I'm seeing my new PCP tomorrow as well as making an appointment with the RE for the bloodwork, sonohysterogram and follow up clomid ultrasound. I'll start clomid on Tuesday! This is all going to happen in the next 2 weeks. We are so excited!

Thank you all for your suggestions and support regarding "throwing the kitchen sink" at this process. I am really comforted that I have such a wonderful support network in you all.

  • DW and I have been tracking, preparing, getting medical testing since January 2013.
  • First Cycle: Unmedicated ICI w/ Donor Sperm 08/02/13: BFN
  • Second Cycle: Unmedicated ICI w/ Donor Sperm 09/11/13, 09/13/13, 09/15/13: BFN
  • Third Cycle: Unmedicated ICI w/ Donor Sperm: 10/13/13, 10/15/13, 10/17/13, 10/21/13: BFN
  • January 2014: Sonohysterogram shows excellent lining & tubes have no blockages
  • Fourth Cycle:  Monitored clomid cycle  w/ ICI's at home: 1/24/14 and 1/25/14. Ovulation verified:  BFN
  • Fifth Cycle: 02/2014 Femara 5mg with ovidrel trigger CD14: BFN
  • Taking a few months off to evaluate if we want to keep trying

    Loss due to umbilical cord clot...baby was perfect. :(
    Jul '13 - FET#1 - c/p
    Sept. '13 - FET#2 - BFN
    Dec.' 2, 2013 - FET#3 with our last chance embie - BFP!!!
    Dec' 26, 2013 - hb!!
    EDD 8/20/14 with a baby girl!
    Little S was born on 8/21/14 - 8lb, 14 oz and 20 inches long.
    We live in Seattle and used SRM for our donor egg IVF cycle

    That is great news!  I am sure AF is welcomed yet a pain in the as* right now.  I am so glad the timing is working out for you right now.  I am ready for you to be back on this crazy train with all of us :-)

    She was 7lbs 11oz and 19.6 inches long

    Together since 2/15/11 ~ Legally married in NY on 9/29/12

    We've been working on baby #1 since July 2013 using Open ID donor sperm.  8 IUI attempts with 5 actual IUIs and one chemical pregnancy.  We have one fresh IVF cycle under our belts as well as a FET.  I have endometriosis and a uterine septum that was corrected via surgery in November 2013. 

    11/14/14 -  Second HSG shows that tubes are still clear and ute is looking good. 

    12/6/14 - Started BCPs in prep for IVF #2

    12/22/14 - Saline u/s and endometrial scratch (All was clear and OUCH!)

    1/2/15 - Began stimming for IVF #2

     ****All Welcome!****

    We are Mommas to four fur babies - 3 dogs and 1 cat.

    5 medicated IUIs w/ RE (March - July 2013) = BFN

    Fresh IVF Cycle in September 2013 resulted in 18 mature eggs, 16 fertilized, 12 made it to day 5. Transfer of 2 Grade A blastocysts on 9/15/13, and 10 embryos in the freezer!      *****BFP on 9/25/13 - betas: @10dp5dt = 232; @12dp5dt = 465; @15dp5dt = 1,581   *********William George born June 4, 2014*********

    Thanks, all! Snowmageddon is putting a little fear in me that my doc may not open tomorrow, but the good news is that I can get my blood work done anywhere else without a referral. So long as I get that referral by CD 6 or 7 we should be fine!! 

    On a different note, we have over a foot of snow already and expecting 3-6 more by 1am and tomorrow we are supposed to see wind chills at or below -25!!! Pip Thursday will be fun this week!!

    I hate to say that I am jealous, but we were told a week ago we were going to get all the snow but all we got was rain :-(  We are supposed to get the crazy cold weather tonight, but not much snow :-(

    I hope your Dr office opens and the weather doesn't effect all of the perfectly timed appointments :-)
