Pumping Q

I go back to work tomorrow and will be pumping 2-3x a day (If I can manage to go home for lunch, I'll BF LO). I've always done really well with the pump, get 3-4 let downs in 15 mins but I started to notice that I still feel a bit full afterwards if I EP. I usually pump for 10-15 mins. Should I not pump for a few mins and give it another go? Or just increase my pumping session? TIA!

Re: Pumping Q

  • I find I'm most efficient pumping every couple hours for 5-6 minutes with each let down.

  • I pump for 15-20 minutes 3 times a day at work and I'm lucky if I get a second letdown toward the end.

  • I find that I don't empty all the way from pumping either. So I just pump to a certain ounce amount and let it go. If I spread out the pumps I tend to empty more.

  • I used to pump for 20 minutes, also pumping hands free helped so I could massage my breasts and get another letdown. I also equated it to wringing out my breasts.

  • Thanks ladies! I'm going to extend my pumping sessions to 20 min and keep the time length the same for pumping after LO eats (low supply here).
