  • Reglan is also recommended in our circle of kids with DS1's birth defect.  I don't think I'd take Reglan with its black box warning.  I think I'd rather FF or get donor milk.

I'll admit I haven't looked at Reglan in a year or so; I don't know if it's changed and been reconsidered in terms of side-effects.

  • I can't speak to taking it for breastfeeding, however, I was prescribed Reglan for nausea during early pregnancy.  The drawback is that it makes you extremely sleepy!  A friend of mine took it to increase her milk supply and she had to get off because she couldn't function it made her so sleepy.  She ended up taking Fenugreek.  I haven't done research on it myself but she has been using it for quite a while now.
  • My LC recommends domperidone. My SIL used it, and it really boosted her supply.
  • I can't speak to the reduction, but I did take Reglan for my supply. My Dr prescribed one month only to help boost my supply and I didn't have any side effects. I don't know if that's the norm though. Talk to your provider about the risks. From what I understand, most of the risks come from long term use.

  • Did it help for you? And did it just go back to what it was when you stopped taking it? I did talk to her and gave read a lot just debating wether to go fill the perscription .. @JenS2203
  • It did help and I noticed a dip when I stopped taking it, but it wasn't significant. I was able to compensate for the dip though with more water and calories.

  • I didn't have a reduction, but had biopsies on both sides, which has made an impact on nursing. I can only nurse on one side. My best advice is nurse as much as you can now! I am disappointed in myself for listening to the LC and giving up on my "fail side" after the second week pp. My milk came in, my boobs were huge but milk only came out on one side. Now at 11wks pp I can get a couple drops out of that side and and am so bummed I didn't nurse more in the beginning to keep it going. Good luck! Oh and I take a fenugreek blend daily.
