Tummy time

My son was born at 32.5 weeks. He is now almost 13 weeks old, 6 adjusted. I've done tummy time since the day we brought him home. I've missed some days bc we have been battling GERD, a milk allergy and corn allergy. I use the boppy for tummy time and he dies great. Holds his head up the whole time, pushes with his arms and has even started rolling from belly to back. But when I take away the boppy he can't hardly lift his head up at all. Has anyone else experienced this? What can I do to help while he's flat on the floor? Thanks!

Do you have a reason for your little guy coming early? I am almost 32w and have been told he could come any day now and am terrified! Just hoping I make it to 32w... How long was he in NICU?
Sorry I don't have answers on the tummy time :)
No diagnosed reason! Just said my body was at its max but I thought that was weird bc I felt amazing! But I was still running up until the day before I delivered so I think that's why. I overdid the exercise! I'll know better with the next one! But we had a 2 week nicu stay. Our baby was perfectly healthy, just really early! Praying everything turns out good for you all!

  • Yes!! Keep doing tummy time. I slacked off when my LO was young and didn't mind it. Now he hates it and just screams or rolls over. He has good neck control but he has a little flat head now.

  • Instead of the floor put him chest to chest on you. My girls tolerated that way a little better.

  • On your chest and babywearing count as tummy time. Honestly, I wish we hadn't forced as much tummy time on Anna. She developed a terrible habit of throwing her arms back and arching her chest to keep her head from being on the floor (never learning to push up on her hands). This habit has been really hard to break.

Our Angel Patricia born sleeping 3/30/12 at 31 weeks
Our Fighter Anna born early 1/8/13 at 26 weeks
Hoping to bring home #3 due 9/9/15
  • Mine didn't lift her head on the floor til 2 months adjusted.  She did it first while holding her on my chest.  He's still young, but he'll get there :)
