2steps!

My dd will walk if holding on to a hand or pack play. Yesterday she took 2 steps towards me on her own. She gave me a look like wtf n sat down. She did it in her packs play too!. It's exciting and I am glad I saw it but I am so not ready for this. She is getting so big I can't stand it.

Re: 2steps!

  • I'm kind of jealous and totally not. DS overthinks the whole thing. I'm pretty sure he's 100% capable of standing on his own and even walking, but the few times I've caught him standing unassisted, he gets completely startled when he realizes what he's doing and will lower himself back to the floor or grab on to whatever he's next to.

Meanwhile, he'll cruise along the entire house, moving from furniture to walls, whatever he can do to move without crawling, but ask him to actually walk and he'll look at you, think about it, then lower himself to the floor and crawl instead. I swear.

  • DD will only try for steps unthinking. If she's close enough she'll just lunge for whatever, and if not, she'll crawl.  I'm with you thouhg- not ready

  • yikes!  I'm  not ready for this either.  DD cruises and stands all. the. time. But she hasn't really tried to stand or walk unassisted yet, it's like that capability hasn't yet crossed her mind :)

  • I really wish she was not trying.  She is crazy, she throws herself around, falls like it is nothing, pulls up with such easy and stands up without having to pull.  We just moved our coffee table to the basement.  It is glass and it makes me worried.  I was going to get the rubber padding for it but since we are moving I figured just to get rid of it now.

  • Yesterday my DD and I were playing when she turned and took 15 steps on her own towards her toys! Then she practiced all afternoon. I'm so not ready for a walker. What happened to our little babies?
  • I ask myself that everyday. It's amazing how much they have changed in a few months

  • Congrats! OP my LO sounds just like yours. She loves to cruise, and goes to town on her push walker. Right before Christmas she was holding onto a box and I was siting not too far from her and she took two steps to get to me, totally without thinking about it. But se doesn't seem to be in a rush to walk on her own. Thank goodness because we are so not baby proofed!! I'm right with you, this is crazy. It seems like just last month I was watching her try to roll over.

  • It's amazing how much they change. She is starting to get the hang of walking but decides to give up and just crawl because it's faster.

  • DS just had his first 2 steps tonight!!!  So exciting, but also I now know life is going to get even busier and crazier chasing after him.

  • My son has been cruising for a while now and took his first steps a week ago. Last night he took 14 steps! Now he just keeps getting up and walking on his own. Crazy how the time flies!
  • It is amazing how they learn things so fast.  She can make it clear across the house and back!  It is exhausting keeping up with her but it is fun.
