Nobody seems to be jumping up and down for this one, but I love it. Thinking either Evelyn (gg-mothers name) or Harper for middle. Honest opinions please?
It doesn't get much love around here for girls but I LOVE it. It's on my long list. I like Quinn Evelyn because it's a family name (plus Harper is NMS)
It's so funny how mixed everyone is about this name! I'd never consider it for a boy. I like it for a girl because it's simple and cute, but not too cute. The popular names now are too fluffy and over used, I can't handle another Sophia, Olivia, Claire, Annabel....especially with my harsh German last name. I think Evelyn is a good middle name as long as you don't say Quinn Evelyn too fast it sounds like a Disney character! Haha! I think I'll stick with it, if some people don't like it at least I know it won't be all that common.

It's not overly popular, but its been consistently jumping up since 2001. With the number of times it comes up on this board, I expect it to continue to climb. So don't be surprised when there's another little Quinn, maybe a boy Quinn, in your DDs class or on her soccer team.
But I don't think it'll ever hit Sophia, Emma, Isabelle heights.
I'm in the camp of not getting the appeal of the name, for either gender. I associate more with boy because of Dexter, but that was that character's LN. And the only IRL Quinn I know is a girl named after her mom's maiden name. So, yea, to me Quinn is in the LN turned FN category.
I've never heard it as a boys name, how funny. My husband's little grandmother is named Evelyn. It seems to be rising in popularity as a girls name though. I know a lot of baby Evelyns.
Ugh. Baby naming is hard someone name her for me!

I think Evelyn crossed over to the girl side quite a long time ago. Beverly is another. Ashley (also my name) is another cross-over, but I think it's much newer as a cross-over than Evelyn. Admittedly, I don't know any male Evelyn's, at least not living ones.
I don't mind it on a girl, the first time and only time I ever heard the name in real life was on a girl so until I started frequenting this board I always thought it was a girl's name. And the fact that Quinn on Glee is a girl doesn't help.
Personally, I think there are prettier names out there, but I wouldn't bat an eye if someone told me their baby girl was named Quinn.
Nobody in real life is as critical as they are on these boards and it's not just because people won't tell the truth in real life.
People in real life are most definitely just as critical as here.
It perhaps seems worse than in real life, but then people here are asking for opinions. People are asking for criticisms. Many times conversations in real life are more like "We're thinking of these names...," "We picked this name...," or "I love this name..." Very different conversations.
However, if my friend directly asked me "What do you think of the name Quinn on a girl?" in real life before the child was born, I'd answer exactly the same as I did in this thread.
If my friend instead said "We love Quinn for a girl and are going to use it!" then I'd respond with "Aw, I'm so glad you finally chose!"
Either way, nobody will hear it and think, "Who the hell names their baby Quinn? That mom needs to be punched in the face." So.....I guess it doesn't matter. My other favorite is Paisley. That's been turned down too.
I like it, but I think it works best as a middle name because no matter the pairing, it always flows better. Evelyn Quinn and Harper Quinn sounds better than Quinn Evelyn or Quinn Harper.
I am so intrigued to read that so many people consider and like Quinn as a boy name. DB actually asked me tonight what I thought of that name for a boy when we were discussing names just for fun and I told him I thought it was a girls name. I do like the name and had no idea it was commonly a boy name.
LOVED Quinn as a girls name forever!! Unfortunately married a Quinn so now that would just be silly. Also loved Brynn for years as well, equally silly with my new last name.
