Didn't repaint because already liked the color; had to do major room moving/rearranging so began about a month before due date (at ILs insistance & DH had a lot of help from his parents).
About 2.5 weeks before due date got the crib & started the washing process.
Purchasing of stroller & car seat was about 2months before due date (had hard time deciding).
Clothing & baby gear wise, had a lot of hand-me-alongs from friends so had first focused on sorting by actual size (not just what the tag said), identifying what already had, and thinkijg through what would actually be needed bucause with online shopping, can pretty much get whatever you need in 2 to 4 days delivered to door step).
Bear in mind, I was hesitant to make big changes / get hopes too far and then have a prepared house to undo.... so once I went on maternity leave, was time.
plus, what doesn't get done, either isn't that important, or can be done when the child is over 3 months (says an expert procrastinator). Granted, others will probably disagree with me.
I've already started buying things, and I'm only 15 weeks. Our glider can take 12-14 weeks to get to us, so I figured I could start early. We will start painting around week 20-25. I think you have plenty of time!
I'd definitely start! Depending on what furniture you need to order, some can take 12-20 weeks! Our glider took 14. Even if you are getting everything in stock, you won't want to be painting and putting together furniture when you are 30+ weeks pregnant. I can promise you that:)

We started buying stuff right out of the first trimester. From 13-28 weeks we just bought and designed. SO painted the room around 29weeks. The room was done by 32weeks. That's when I started washing clothes and organizing his drawers/closet. It's a nice feeling to be "done", but if you're "done" too soon you start doubting and re-organizing.
We started very quickly. I knew that we wouldn't be able to afford to purchase everything during the last month so we wanted to spread out the purchases over many months. We got the travel system stroller at 5 months, the crib/changing table/dresser at 6 months. We're not painting the room since we want to move from an apartment to a house soon so we don't want to re-paint the room before we leave.
Started around 24 weeks... "finished" around 34 weeks... I am currently 38 weeks and still have little stuff to do like hang artwork. Who knows if that will actually get finished, it's not a priority.
We didn't do the nursery until my 3rd Tri (it was painted). The crib and everything was put in when I hit my 39-week mark. I wasn't in a rush, because I knew the baby would be in our room for the first 2 months. When it came to buying items, I bought the things I REALLY wanted (that I was worried they wouldn't have come baby shower time). Then I waited until after our baby shower to buy anything else.
My daughter was due Feb 14th. We got the room cleared out the last day of January. We bought her crib on Feb 3rd and put it together that day. The next day we bought decals and sheets. A few days after that we bought her organizer and put it together.
But we co-sleep and planned to all along so I wasn't worried about "not having it finished".
Her only "gear" I really bought was the carseat (at 20wks) because I got to borrow a lot of stuff from my brother in law who had a baby two weeks before I got pregnant.
I'd say start between 20-25 weeks. For my ds my hubby wasn't concerned at all with getting things done.....I almost had baby at 35 weeks and was on bedrest until I had baby at 38. So I'd say get really important things by 30 weeks.
We just started painting yesterday. Since I'm on bedrest and have a high chance of delivering extra early- friends and family are helping DH put it together (he's decorating dumb by his own admission- this sort of thing has always been my strength). One paint coat this weekend, one coat next weekend.
We've got the crib and options for the changing table but still need to find a rocker and buy all the non-paint decorating things (wall decals, crib bedding, etc). I figure if I deliver early enough that baby is in the nicu (very likely) I will be off bed rest after delivery and can rush to finish the details before baby comes home. Or if our little girl behaves and stays put- I can just have DH work on it for the next three months of weekends and it should be mostly done by the time she comes home.

I'll be 21 weeks Thursday and plan to start on it in the next few weeks. We have DD's old crib we plan on using as long as Dh can put it together without the instructions! Dh claims he can design and hand paint the letters for his name but we aren't painting the room. It's already a taupe color and I think it'll match the nursery bedding great! I do want to get some shelves and art work but it'll be a really simple nursery overall.
we rennovated before DD was born. Dh had the room painted but hardwoods were put in when I was 37 weeks. We decorated in the last 3 to 4 weeks. I didn't want to hear it when people told me not to stress because the room likely wouldn't be used at first..but it was true. We used it mostly for diaper changes. DD only started to sleep in there at 2.5 months
We haven't and I'm due in 5 weeks. This baby is going to sleep in our room for at least 6 months, so we will buy a c o-sleeper, a changing table, and a glider next weekend. Other than clothes (that will be put away in the nursery closet) and diapers (which will live in the changing table), we don't really need anything else. The nursery is ready- painted and being used as a guest room for now. But we're in no rush to buy the crib, bedding, etc. So much easier to just have a baby live in your room, especially when you BF.
