So whose LO is potty trained? K was going poop on the potty on and off (I had her sit with diaper ON to get used to it)-but really finds it as a toy now.
DD is potty trained bottomless. We are working on learning to take underwear off before using the potty now... :-s Night time training is no where in sight though.
ETA: About a month ago she regressed on using the potty and started going where ever again. I was so discouraged and then I got some gerber training pants and dappi nylon covers. I used them for three or four days and BOOM. Switch flipped and she started using the potty 100% of the time she's awake.
We're getting ready to start. DD is able to tell us (in English) when she needs a diaper change, but only when we ask. But she is definitely communicating about other "urgent" matters more clearly. We just need to do some potty research. No clue what to buy.
My dd is totally potty trained. She only wears "big girl" underwear now. I think she has wore them for three months now. For your LO to poop on the potty is really good! That is what we struggled with. So you are definitely on the right track. I'm not going to lie, we've had our regressions but we've worked through them.
Nope! We haven't really even started. She was going on her potty every night before bath, but the past couple of weeks she refuses to even do that. I figure that we'll wait until she's completely ready. And honestly, with the new baby due in about a month I don't think I have the time or energy to fully commit to it right now.
Nope. She had about 2 weeks were she peed fairly often on the potty but was still going in her diaper too. Then she stopped and would only play when on the potty. We missed the window of opportunity because we were on the road all the time and now we are waiting for the next one.

He loves to talk about the potty but has yet to go. He also loves flushing toilet paper down the toilet. We pretty much have everything down except the actual going part.
So for those that have potty trained kiddos-can you share what your routine was? I bought some thick training undies as well as pull ups. Some sites say to have them in their undies all day (I dont want a mess everywhere) while others say pull ups are fine and to take the LO to the potty every 20 minutes all day long-that seems like a lot?
Potty trained here, but for whatever reason, we're having trouble transitioning from Pull-Ups to big boy undies. He never has any accidents in Pull-Ups then we put him in underwear and its bonkers? Now that the crazy holidays are over I'm hoping a few days of full attention to it will help. Still in a diaper at night. I doubt that'll change for awhile.
What really worked for us was just consistancy. I took him every 20 minutes for the first week or so. Then he progressed to longer and longer time periods. If he's busy, he'll go for hours. If he's bored, he'll still go every 20-30 minutes. I think that was just a learning curve for me as well to figure him out. But staying on top of the time and consistently taking him was key. (He's a ""schedule" baby anyway) I definitely have taught him to go sitting down. My pedi recommended this as did several other moms of boys. It made perfect sense to me. Why teach them two different contradicting things when one will do? And as my pedi put it, "Don't worry, someone will teach him to pee standing up a little later. Probably a proud dad." We originally bought a little potty seat and he did fine with that, but I realized I was creating a more difficult barrier to try eventually get him to use the regular potty. So we moved over to a little insert that sits in the seat. One for each floor of the house too (much easier). Now he goes like a champ wherever we are in public as well. We also used rewards (stickers and M&M's). He'll still get one every now and then as a positive reminder, but he's mostly just ready to get back to whatever he's playing with.
Nope, not even close. The few times I've sat him on the potty he freaks out, so we'll wait a few more months before sitting him on it again. I am positive I will have two in diapers come July...ughhh
Nope. He was showing interest, so we bought a seat to go over the toilet. He sat on it once, and doesn't want anything to do with it. I'm not that concerned. When he is ready, he is ready.

Not yet. He'll tell us when he has to poop though, so I need to get one of those seat inserts and try to get him to actually sit on the toilet and go. I'm not stressed about it at this point though - my plan was to wait until June to tackle this since I'll be out for the summer and able to be consistent with it, rather than potentially having a different routine at home and at daycare 2-3 days a week.

DD is not trained yet but we're working on it. She had shown interest around 13 months but we didn't follow through and now she is showing interest again, which is great because we're expecting #2 in April and I'd love to only have one in diapers.
Question for those who have or are in the process - have you used deposable liners such as these for public restrooms?
If not, what did you do while out and about? I don't really like the idea of having to carry a portable potty with me especially if we're in the middle of the supermarket or something.
Thanks in advance for any responses.

Sorry I am just now responding it's been a little crazy around here with all the snow. Bare with me because I am on the IPad so formatting won't be the best.
We bought dd her potty at 12 months just to get her used to it. She started showing interest so I tried it. Her potty is right in front of our toilet so even before I started working with her I would sit her on it while I went the bathroom. (Not modest in our house) Anyways once she started going I just constantly started taking her to the bathroom. Anytime I had to go I would just automatically put he on her potty and she would go. After anytime she would wake up I would take her to the potty because I learned that is when she'd go.
To get her out of diapers I just let her run around the house without any pants or a diaper. There were a few accidents but she caught on quickly. After about a week and a half to two weeks she got the idea. I did still put her in diapers at night or if we went somewhere. However we are completely out of diapers now. I also did lots of praise and acted over excited. A tip we still have to have is to have books in the bathroom.
I am no expert on potty training, and this is just what worked for us. I'm not going to lie there are the occasional accidents but I'm okay with that. If you have any questions I'd be happy to answer them. I will quit my rambling now.
Thank you! So I've started and have had good success so far-she goes pee almost every time and has pooped. She's kept her pull ups dry for 3 days except for today when she was over tired. Excited-my dd is using "poo poo!" to get out if going to bed too. I called her bluff and lo and behold I go into her room finally 20 min later and there was a big poop:(-so yes hard to gauge! I ask her about every 30 min about pottying so lots of time in the bathroom.
