Am I going overboard?

Baby girls first birthday is also her golden birthday, and she is our first. Inviting family and friends puts our guest total at about 41 people, maybe more. I' would have it at our house so it can be outside, but who knows what the whether will be like May 1st. Im playing with the idea of renting a space that can accommodate that many people. Is it too much for a birthday that she will have no memory of? I'm trying to justify it in my mind because its her first and golden birthday, but maybe its too much.

Re: Am I going overboard?

  • I think your golden b-day is where you turn the same age as the number day you were born on.
example - DS was born on May 8th so his 8th b-day would be his golden b-day.

  • If that's what you want to do and you won't go into debt doing it, then do it.  I wouldn't do it, but it's just NMS.
  • I went to my friend's baby's 1st bday in April. She had a bounce house, magician, face painters and a million people there. Everyone seemed to have fun. Personally, it wasn't something I would do but it worked for her.

  • My family is that much not even including DH's family so that sounds normal to me.

  • Again big family here so that many people isn't unusual. We are having a big bash for R's 1st but it's also the same day DH graduates from college (left after his junior year because he entered the MLB draft). It's a big deal because he'll be the first member of his family to graduate from college. So his family is coming in for both. That being said I don't think anyone would appreciate a magician or clowns.
  • That's more people than were at my wedding. :) NMS, but I say, go for it! :)
