My DH had a hemmroidectomy (excuse my spelling) a few years ago. He said it was an absolutely awful recovery. And guess who's back?? Ernest Hemmingway himself (hemrroids nickname). Poor guy...

So now we swap hemmroid stories. Ahh the romance. :x

I picked had them and now they are gone, but that could change in a day or two. They come and go frequently. It's annoying.

I got my first one in the last tri but it was never anything more than annoying itchy. I think it went away by 2 months pp. I know I'm lucky! SO has always gotten bad ones! Oh, I never had to push either so I'm sure they would have been worse.

SS - I've had them since I was in college.  They never really go away ladies, sorry!  They just go dormant and then you'll have flare-ups.  I usually have a flare-up once a year or couple years.  Oddly, I never had a flare-up while I was pg.  Go figure!

I had them slightly 3rd trimester. Then I gave birth and holy shit....I can't even explain to you how bad it was. That was the worst part of my post partum healing. Even my main nurse was "impressed". They've gone away for the most part but I get small ones every so often, especially if I don't drink a lot of water. Hope this wasn't TMI!!

Your backside looking like cauliflower. At least that's what I envisioned mine looking like! I was too terrified to look. I believe they can be different for each person.

Uh, no... it's painful.  Feels very uncomfortable, some people say burning, it just hurts for me.  There is usually a lump in the location.  If the swelling doesn't go down, it usually bleeds (prep H helps).  After that I feel loads better.  Internal hemmeroids aren't painful because they usually can't be felt.  But the bleeding if you don;t know they are there can be scary.  I have suppositories to shink those if I get them.

Same here! Mine are not as bad as his but I definitely have an understanding friend when I am like - what the hell is this?!

I was so mad that I got them. I didn't get them my entire 1st pregnancy.... pushed 3 hours with him. Didn't have them my entire pregnancy with DS- pushed 20 mins, no roids. Then when baby #2 was like 3-4 months I was like... what is going on??? I don't think mine are bad from what I have heard but it pissed me off that I got through 2 pregnancies and 2 labors and then thought I was in the clear. Then BAM. Bastards.

I didn't get them while pregnant or during labor...but forgot to take my stool softener one day (two weeks pp) and there they were. Ugh. Awful. 

I get flare ups every now and again. I still take one docusate a day, just in case.

I got them when I had my 1st child 14 yrs ago and they have flared up occasionally ever since! It takes prescription meds to get rid of them when they do. Well...not get RID of them, but make them go away for another 6 mo or so.

I've had them with occasional flare-ups. Unfortunately some pp's were right that they don't really go away
