Explaining Christmas is over

Wow, I never thought DS would have this hard of a time getting over Christmas. Every morning and every night when we get home for daycare he is asking "Where tree?" "Where Buddy?" (his elf on the shelf), "Where lights?", "Where choo-choo?". I've been telling him that all those things are Christmas decorations and that they went to be with Santa until next year. Then he replies with a sad "oh". LOL when I explain it, its almost like I'm explaining heaven! I think everyone gets a tad depressed after the holidays but this kid is taking it HARD. I know he'll probably get over it in a few days, but any suggestions to make this big transition easier for him?

Re: Explaining Christmas is over

  • DS was initially confused when he saw the tree was replaced by the baby swing (we're starting to pull the newborn gear out again, yikes!), but it took it harder when his birthday balloons disappeared. I was worried that he'd expect to unwrap presents every day from now on. :)

  • We are definitely having this problem and we haven't even taken down the decorations yet.. woops ...G keeps telling me that he hears Santa's train anytime he hears any train and he is constantly coming up with new things to ask Santa for and desperately wants to know why there isn't more candy in the advent calendar

TTC#1 May 2009- July 2010 on our own with no luck

Started with RE in August 2010, dx with unexplained IF and then finally our 3rd IUI cycle using Follistim and Trigger resulted in our wonderful little man.  Born 12/2/11

TTC#2 Never really prevented, but were careful early on as Dr. reccomended

Surprise BFP 12/16/13, started progesterone immediately as first numbers came back low, but betas were good.  Progesterone wasnt enough. Natural MC 12/24/13.

Back with RE as of January 2014...

    5/27/14- Chemical Pregnancy :(

    April 2015 IVF#1

  • I'm dreading this.  We haven't taken our stuff down yet, and I'm wondering if we should do it overnight or involve him in the process.  Hmmmm...
