We only bought Morgan 2 things for Christmas, she's 1 and won't remember this year. I don't understand why people buy tons of gifts for their 1 and 2 year olds.

Us too..and then she got both the gifts I had bought from someone else for her birthday...so I ended up taking them back to Walmart and getting way more than I paid for either (I bought them online Cyber Monday)...so I used the store credit to buy her several smaller things (clothes, puffs, etc) and a baby gate.
My FFFC....DH and I have already decided when we want to TTC again but whenever anyone else asks, I always act like we're nowhere near ready to even think about that...I just don't like people sticking their nose in my reproductive business...

We only got her 1 thing, 1 from Santa, and a birthday gift (since hers is the 26th). My mom and sister went WAY overboard, so she had more than enough gifts without us buying more.
My FFFC: I'm a little annoyed with how overboard my sister and mom went. I had put together a list of toys that I thought she'd like, plus some practical items. They both decided that there wasn't enough toys, so they picked out a bunch that they "knew" she'd like. For example, we got her a rocking/ride on horse... My sister showed up with a ride on car/bike thing (like the pink plastic kind from Fisher Price). They're different, sure, but the same basic concept. There was easily 15 toys between them.
I don't mean to sound ungrateful (which I know I do), but I'd really rather that they did something meaningful with/for her, rather than just buying a bunch of toys. Like, my BIL hadn't met her until Christmas (like, an entire year had gone by), my sister's seen her twice before now, and my mom's seen her three times. She's so much more outgoing with my dad and stepmom, who come over to see her regularly, than my mom's side of the family who doesn't. Okay, vent over.
I agree w/you guys on the gifts. Number 1, he is a year old and won't know the difference. Also, I don't want my house to look like a day care. So, I got him some stand/walk toys from Amazon, some blocks, a couple of smaller toys and pj's, and event THAT felt overboard to me. Maybe I'm just a minimalist or something.
My FFC is that I had a miserable headache a little bit ago at work, so bad that I almost left. Now that it's gone, I still want to leave work early . But, I will probably stay - not b/c I feel bad about leaving, but b/c I want to save up my sick time.
Oh, and @kerbear135, I'd be the same way. I don't get people are so nosy about babies in the first place!
I don't think we went overboard with the twins, but I did get them each 3 or 4 different things to open on Christmas and their bday (which, in retrospect, was too much for them....they weren't fans of the present-opening thing). The items did include things like pants, so it wasn't all toys, but I can see myself being much more "minimalist" w/ future LOs....it sure was fun buying them presents, though.
My confession is, I accidentally locked the downstairs bathroom (don't ask how...it's a weird door....I'm hoping DH can just bust it back open like the last time this happened...), and now I have to pee, but I've been holding it for the last half hour partly b/c I don't want to risk waking up LOs from their nap, and partly b/c I'm too lazy to go upstairs.
Now I feel a tad guilty, but I didn't get LO anything for Christmas or his birthday! I buy him plenty of toys, etc throughout the year and I figured he's get plenty from friends/family and that he wouldn't notice anyway because he's one! I did throw him a birthday party, so that's like a gift, right? :P
we just go LO big girl shoes, socks without treads on the bottom & her 2 big girl carseats. When people would ask me what we were getting her for birthday or Christmas, I'd just say "new car seat" with a sound of awe to my voice (it is a big purchase & safety is #1 priority over other fun options (which everyone else took care of any way)
Anyhow, LO went to day care today for part of the day & I got less than half of what I wanted to accomplish done. The rest is now bugging me a bit & LO didn't do her pm nap, so am now a bit frustrated that I didn't get nap time from her.
We didn't get Morgan anything for her birthday either. She had enough gifts from family and friends. She's early December, the 3rd, so for the future we will get her something but the future parties are only going to be us, Grandparents, my siblings and her godparents. So very small and just a few things.
I guess I was complaining because on FB a friend of mine posted a picture of her tree with the gifts for her DS and there were close to 60 gifts for him! The boy is about 22/23 months old and he was so bored opening them that she ended up opening them all. What fun is that?? Yay, it took me 500 days to wrap all of this now I get to open it!! Not my idea of a good time.
To each their own but I just don't get it and it will not happen like that for Morgan.
