clothing sizes

So I know every child grows at their own pace but I was wondering what size our LO's are in.
A is just about 8 months and is wearing 3 to 6 months and some 6 months. She received 9 to 12 month clothes that are long sleeve and sweaters. I am not sure but I doubt they will fit her until the summer. Do you think the 12 months could work for the end of summer/ early fall? Any thoughts?

Re: clothing sizes

  • 3-6m is 6 months.

Mine just moved into 9m.  She can still wear 6m, but he is def in 9m.

  • Sorry meant to write 3 months and some 6 months.
  • My guy will be 8 months on the 3rd (tomorrow.... Sad). He is in 12 month clothes.
  • LO is in 12 months... unless the pants button, instead of being fully elastic - those are too tight. And we just bought a size 18 month jacket since his 12 month one kept riding up. That said, he's been mostly in 12 months for a while now - the longest he's been in any size, so far. I think it's hard to say. I try to avoid buying too far ahead, since I just can't predict it and wasted WAY too much money on clothes he couldn't ever wear before he was born.

  • DD will be 8 months on the 19th and wears 6 months, 6-9, and 9 months. 12 months are still long and kind of big on her.

  • Pretty much all 12m, Im worried some of the sleepers are getting tight on his legs. He can still wear some 6-12 in other brands but I just exchanged some xmas stuff to get 12-18 so it would last longer for him. He is quite the chunker though:)
  • it kind of sounds like our kiddos are about the same size, so I guess it might depend on how quickly she's outgrown clothes in the past as well as her height/weight. S is usually about a size behind (newborn until 3 months, 0-3 until close to 7 months although if her head wasn't so big, she could probably still fit most of it) and I'm pretty sure she'll be in 3-6 month clothes for quite some time. I'm expecting that she'll start to fit 6-9 month clothes somewhere around March, and 9-12 month clothes mid to late summer. If your LO is on the same track, I would think that her 9-12 month clothes would be okay for early fall.

  • I agree that there is just no predicting whether or not your lo will fit in them come next fall. Since my ds has been in 18m for a few weeks now (turned 7m on the 23rd), I have no idea what size to buy for the summer. And trust me I was looking at everything coming out for spring and wanting to shop ahead. Also, my mom got him a few 24m things that are for winter and I don't know if I should return them out hope that he fits in them next fall/winter. He hasn't been able to wear so many things that were so cute! It is quite frustrating.
  • @Trish625 - I'm so glad that my DS is not the only one wearing 18m clothes :) My SIL keeps telling me not to get rid of any of his 12m clothes when he grows out of them, because right now, they're all still too long; they just get too tight in the waist. We're all sort of thinking he might "stretch out." We shall see!

  • 6 months fit her nicely, but I usually buy most things a size up to accommodate the cloth diapers. So, she's in mostly 9 months unless I have her in a disposable.

  • @AllisonO78 Yes, people keep saying that once they are mobile they shed the rolls so I'm hoping he just lengthens out and stays at his weight (or around there), since he definitely has room to grow length-wise in size 18m.
  • We've become masters of the pants-cuff :)

  • 12-18 monthers here. He can do 12m in regular Carter's but things like The Children's place and Gap kids he's 12-18. Oshkosh and Gymboree are no gos because their clothes seem to be made for square babies. He's tall and skinny. He just turned 7 months and he's 21lbs but over 29in. Our issues are lengths. The poor kid always looks like he's wearing capris.
  • Mostly 9 months, some 12 months but he can still squeeze into some 6 month pants.

Yes! Our LO's are def the same. She was in newborn for 3 months. She wears 3 months now but needs 6 month pants only for the length. I have to sow the waist.

ha, you're a better mom than me then since I just let S hang out in baggy pants ;)

  • We are comfortable in 9 months but 12 months clothes are a little big but it depends on the brand.

  • We are pretty much right on for clothes. LO will be 7 months on the 5th and is in 6 month clothing. I have 2 3-6month outfits she still wears some times.

  • Sam is in 12 month clothing.  Ben wears 24 months, but has borrowed Max's size 2 shirts and jammies on occasion.  Ben's not even that chubby, he just has a super big frame.

  • We turned 7 months today, and my little chubster is in 12-18 month stuff. But she was really tall (28 in) at her 6 month visit and is about 22 pounds right now, so based on that, it makes sense. Also all the brands are so different... There are a few 9 month things we can still sausage squeeze into.

My little bug, Madeline. Born June 2, 2013.

  • LO is 7 months today and is typically in 9 month clothes, except sweatshirts- in sweatshirts she is in 12 months.

  • LO is seven months today too...@angela183 our LO's have the same birthday.  June 3?
He is in 9 month clothes..except for hats...he already needs 12 months for his head.

  • we are buying 6-12, 9 and 12-8. She is 7 months and 19 lbs.
  • T will be 8 months on the 6th and wears 9 month clothes. He grew out of 0-3 as soon as he turned 3 months, outgrew 3-6 as soon as he turned 6 months old so I'm assuming we have a little bit more time in 9 month clothing. He has never fit into any one piece outfits except for pjs though for some reason. Even the 12 month one piece outfits don't fit him right.
  • Yes @mslaurats! June 3 is a good day!
