BF/pumping and working with difficult job

I unfortunately had to start back at my job today after being off for 16 weeks. I have an outside sales job and have prepared for pumping in the car while traveling. But I just started to think about the fact that I sometimes have to travel with another sales person (in cars) and am in all day out of town meetings usually every other month (sometimes held in hotels, but are also held at company headquarters or random offices). I am in an extremely male dominant field (I am the only women to have taken a maternity leave at my company in my position) so I will always be with men. Is anyone else in this situation? When I need to pump when I'm by myself, I will do it in my car. But if I am co-traveling or in all day meetings, I guess I have to do it in a public restroom? So if I'm traveling with someone, I guess I just tell them to wait in the car while I go pump? This all of the sudden is stressing me out. I didn't really think about it before. There really isn't much point to this post. I guess I'm just looking to see if anyone else is in this situation and what they have done, or if anyone has advice on this.

  • I am sooo glad there is someone else with this problem! For the most part I go on sales calls by myself but I have a couple clients that I take my 57 year old male coworker to see. Those clients are 1.5 and 2 hours away one way. And he drives. Things could get awkward lol. I've been worried about this since I was about 6 months pregnant and LO is now 4 weeks old. Looks like I'll be spending time in the bathroom.

  • Thanks ladies. The traveling part is going to be difficult. Hopefully I can avoid that for a while.

Yeah, it's going to be awkward. Everyone that I work with is male, and the majority of my customers are male. I'm not sure why, but I will be embarrassed when I have to do this.
