XP: mealtime help

LO's are 18 months and are pretty good eaters however we are going through the "picky" phase where they won't eat anything. Pretty much if its carbs (pasta, bread, pizza, crackers, pancakes), they will eat it but that's about it. They used to LOVE meats and fish but wont touch them now. And all of my "go to's" (pb&j, grilled cheese, toast etc) they are starting to get sick of, understandably so. Does anyone have any suggestions for meal time ideas that I can get them to eat?? TIA.

  • I know I can't make them eat and don't try to. If they don't like it I just try again another day knowing one day they will again eat it. I was more looking for suggestions on meals that other LO's like that maybe I can try.

  • Thanks ladies. I have to put a few of those back in the rotation and see if they'll try them again. Although I know it's a phase, it's a frustrating one bc we too just give them what we eat.....yet they just won't eat it anymore. My once very good eaters have become very picky, which makes meal time quite difficult!

  • Fish sticks with green peas and mashed potatoes, stew chicken and rice, sweet potatoes is always a favorite.

For breakfast DS's favorite is oatmeal and I put cinnamon/raisin all natural peanut butter in it to give it flavor. Grilled cheese.

  • LO became really picky about 3 months ago and would eat very few things. Then in the last week or so, he's started eating so many more things and things he normally would've refused. You need to keep offering different things and one day they might just surprise you but if you don't offer, you won't ever know you had a chance for them to eat a greater variety of foods.
