Quick sharp pains

Hi ladies, I spent the day today registering for the LO and needless to say, I was up on my feet for a few hours. Throughout the day (mostly earlier when I was out and about) I consistently got these quick sharp pains in my cervix area about every 10 to 20 minutes. Like I said they were very quick but caused me to stop in my tracks in pain. They are still happening now (less often) even after laying down for a few hours... I'm a FTM so this is clearly new to me. Should I be worried or is this somewhat normal??

Re: Quick sharp pains

  • I have been having the same thing. FTM here as well so I have no clue what i'm talking about but i'm not to concerned with mine. It's nothing that is lingering for me but all my mom friends I have talked to have said it's normal.

  • Sounds normal. I think this is what some people refer to as lightning crotch. Sometimes it feels like bladder spasms to me.

  • I had this too when I was on vacation last week (ie lots of walking around). I didn't worry about it too much since it was so quick and not consistent.

  • I got this several times today too! I'm guessing it's the "lightning crotch" I always hear about, but it freaked me out a bit because this is my 3rd pregnancy and I never experienced lighting crotch with either of my first two. With my 2nd pregnancy, I had this feeling only one time and it was immediately followed by contractions and my son was born shortly after. But when nothing happened after the few times (maybe 3?) that this happened today, I was pretty satisfied that this is something normal that I just avoided having before. It is weird though!

  • Normal. Either baby pressing on cervix or bladder and pelvic area. May strike a nerve.
  • Lightening crotch. Add this to the list of things I've learned from this board. Lightening crotch is real.
