Pregnancy test negative

After 1.5 months of what seemed like pregnancy symptoms (missed period, exhaustion, pain in breasts, quick to tears and sentimental, even excess saliva - and all after unprotected sex one time), I finally took a pregnancy test. It was negative. I feel that I should have been relieved: I am in law school and will be articling 1.5 years from now, and my fiancé and I are currently not financially secure. However, a big part of me is sad. As much as it's not "the right time", I know we would be ok and I feel it would have been such a blessing to be parents. I guess I'm just wondering if other people have experienced this.

Re: Pregnancy test negative

  • Yes definitely! I think it's completely normal. We have had a few times where it would have been okay if I had been pregnant, but it wasn't the best time either (finances, deployment, etc). Rather than be relieved, I found myself a bit disappointed. But now I'm glad that I hadn't been pregnant those few times. There isn't a "best" time to get pregnant, but I know there will be a better time.

  • Not being financially secure is a pretty big indication that it is not, in fact, the right time to be parents. You will consider yourselves just as blessed to be parents if you wait until you're in a better place to take care of your LO-in fact, you'll probably consider yourself even more blessed after you have LO because you'll have a much better appreciation for how much time, effort, and money is involved.
