Trying to Get Pregnant

Intro!

Thought I would make it official and say hello!

My DH and I have been trying since August 2013. We have been together for 5 years and married for almost 2.

Of course I thought I would be pregnant by now, I spent so much of my life trying NOT to get pregnant and now that I want to it isn't so easy. I have been slowly starting all methods of tracking as my periods can be anywhere from 32-45 days. I still have not seen a doctor to see if there is a reason behind such random cycles.

Anyway, I love reading the boards and seeing all the questions and advice given, and hope this will only help in my journey to parenthood!

    Welcome!

Check out the Newbie Blog. It's a great source of information. I would definitely recommend getting a BBT thermometer and joining Fertility Friend. That way you can see when/if you are ovulating.

My cycles are very irregular too. My last cycle was 31 days and the one before that was 70. Not every women has a regular 28 day cycle. I think a lot of girls on here have cycles that range which is why FF is so helpful!

    Good luck!

ETA: to add the perfect gif I just came across, love this show!!

  • Welcome!
Son: Jackson, 11/02/06, stillborn due to PPROM and IUGR. Over the next ten years we had 9 miscarriages from 8-14 weeks. On May 18, 2016 my daughter, Ridley, was born. We're OADNBC.
  • Thanks!

I have been using FF, and using opks .. but my problem is lately when I get what looks like a positive on opk, we BD for that day and the day after ..and stop.  I end up getting my period 14 days later.

I know I really need to do weekend BD and then a Tuesday and Thursday BD at the very least. But then it feels so forced, but at this point I need to try sticking to that type of schedule to see if it works...

  • Welcome aboard from one newbie to another ;)
  • I second everyone else's advice.

Welcome and good luck to you!

Even with perfect timing, a normal healthy couple only has a 20% chance of getting pregnant in any cycle. Keep doing what you're doing. It doesn't sound like you need to worry about seeing a doctor yet.

    Welcome and good luck!
