Alison - desired a feminine name that was well established, but without being an old school/grandmother classic type of established.
Ashlyn - less educated or otherwise not concerned with names with an established history. Not afraid to be part of the -Lynn trend which many associate with white trash (look up Seth Macfarlane's Ted movie clip)
Jocelyn - looking for something that feels a little different, without going outside of established name options. Stumbled into a name which they may be disappointed to discover its not as "different" as they thought it was when they meet another Jocelyn in dear DD's class (because it's feeling a bit trendy to me)
