So my DH brought home some delicious looking snow crab today for our NYE dinner tonight. Everything I read online says I can have this - but no more than 6oz per month. My questions... How many crab legs or meat do you think would equal 6oz AND would you eat it?
If you can have two 6 oz servings a week, I would eat as many as I wanted. I don't know about you, but I couldn't afford crab 2x week. So what is once every few months really going to do? Or I guess unless you're eating other fish weekly too, which I don't.
Thanks for posting! We're having that tonight, too, and was planning to eat as much as I wanted!! I've had a seafood aversion most of my first tri, but it sounds so good! Cheers!
Thanks everyone!! I can't wait until they are done!! I was planning on eating them no matter what - just wanted to see how many would be considered "safe". I need to get as many as I can in my belly quickly because my husband doesn't mess around when it comes to crab legs!! Happy New Years!!
Um, I literally ate my weight in crab last Friday at a seafood buffet place. Then I had about 9 sushi rolls to follow and we are getting sushi again tonight. I knew crab was ok, so I'm just eating whatever I can fit in.
I'd eat it all and tell him to find his own!! Haha. Theres actually a calculator to figure out how much mercury per kg or something that requires your weight and you can put in types of fish plus serving sizes to calculate out mercury amounts in various fish... if you want the real numbers or to check what is higher or lower.
dh is the anti-seafood police. no crab legs for me for a while
Normally I would kick you in the arse and send you some crab legs, but infertility puts a whole new spin on things. Your DH is very invested and has endured some heartache. I shall let him police your eating
Edited: Apparently I'm unclear on what run-on sentences are.
yep, when my bff asked why i wasn't eating blue cheese i was like "i went through a lot of shit to get this baby!" there's definitely a heightened sense of not wanting to screw it up

Since it's low in mercury I'd just eat as many as I wanted.
This. We're taking a trip before LO to Myrtle Beach and DH tells me all the time about the best all you can eat buffet there with crab legs. I plan to eat tons! I almost never eat seafood. It's all about moderation.
We went to a high end seafood restaurant tonight. I joked to DH I hit my mercury limit for the year and I'm lucky the new one starts tomorrow. She crab soup, crab cake appetizers, scallops, crab stuffed shrimp, crab mac n cheese. Mmm. I hope you enjoyed your crab legs OP!
