Pretty Pusher Pattern?

Has anyone found a pattern to make a Pretty Pusher like gown or a hospital gown?  I'm planning a home birth and would like something to wear before and/or after that I won't feel bad about ruining.   I spent the whole hospital stay last time in the gowns they gave me, so it was something I'm pretty sure I'd use.  But I can't justify paying $30+shipping for one, especially when it doesn't seem like it would be hard to make.

  • I think 'lazy girl designs' has one, not sure how good it is.
Pinterest has a lot as well just. I'm not planing on using one so can't be much help. Good luck!

  • You could always just buy a cheap nightgown.  That's my plan this time around (for after delivery though, not during).

  • I sell baby blankets on etsy and a girl that bought a quilt from me last year asked if I could also make her a "cute" hospital gown. She had a picture of how she wanted it to look and it was basically a dress that she wanted to function like a hospital gown. I used the pattern from Crafty Cupboard blog

It's a little more advanced than the lazy girl one (the girl I made it for was having a scheduled c-section so I don't know how it was for full blown labor and vaginal delivery) but she was happy with it! It only took me a couple hours and not too fussy to make.

  • Not a pattern, but I used one of these last time and bought myself a new one for this time. The fabric is incredible and I wore it a ton postpartum as well. I didn't wear it to push (was just out of the tub anyway) to keep the blood and yuck off.

  • Thanks!! I'm pretty sure the Lazy Girl and Crafty Cupboard are the two I have saved since they looked promising. I might have to look around a little more, and a cheap nightgown might be a good plan too.

  • Try a web search for phrases like "DIY hospital gown" or "DIY maternity gown" or even "labor gown pattern." There are quite a few listed under each.

  • Why must all maternity/pregnancy related stuff have such idiotic names? I can't be the only one cringing at "Pretty Pusher" and Petunia Picklewhatever" am I??
  • Jenb_99, I have searched and found several ones that sound good. I was seeing if anyone had one they'd used before. I should have worded my op that way. I'm leaning towards making something since I would be in for less than $20 in fabric and supplies versus $30-50+ I'm seeing these gowns retail for...one on etsy was $150!!!

And I have no idea why the silly names...I do love my Petunia Pickle Bottom diaper bag though:).
