Cloth Diapering

Newborn CD Stash

Hi there,

I wanted to get opinions on my newborn diaper stash. I wanted to get that ready to go immediately, then I could start filling in with diapers beyond the newborn stage.

12 osocozy prefolds, size 1
6 diaper covers (1 rumparooz aplix, 1 imagine snap cover, 4 sweet pea snap covers)
2 newborn pocket diapers (blueberry)
2 newborn simplex AIO
1 newborn Little Bee Changed AIO
1 newborn sweet pea AIO
1 newborn  Bumgenius AIO
4 snappis

When my little guy can fit into one size diapers I have 2 charlie banana pocket diapers and one on the way from Kelly's Closet from their coupon yesterday. I am planning on purchasing 2 more packages of prefolds.

Thank you all in advance for your opinions and advice!

Re: Newborn CD Stash

  • You need at least 30-36 changes to wash every other day. I count that you have 19 so far.

Why not look into adding a few fitteds into the mix? GMD Workhorse and Kissaluvs size 0 get great reviews for the newborn stage.
  • @freezorburn  is wise.  GMD (green mountain diaper) workhorse fitteds are awesome for the NB stage.  You will go through somewhere between 12 and 15 diapers a day during that NB stage when they poop all.the.time.  So washing EOD you want to have 30-36 changes.  Also the Osocozy prefolds are nice, but the size ones will be a bit bulky the first couple weeks.  So having something like NB fitteds that are trimmer will be nice.

Also don't forget to have CD safe diaper cream and/or coconut oil and at least two large wetbags or a diaper pail and two pail liners on hand.

  • Hi there,

Thank you ladies for the feedback! With the GMD fitted diapers, do you still use a cover? I am sure you probably do, being that they are 100% cotton. Thank you for the suggestion, I was relieved to see how cost effective they are!

I was planning to stock up on Cj's BUTTercream, however if coconut oil works, that is awesome! I am sure it smells great too!

    Thank you both so much!
  • Yes you need a cover for the fitteds and you can use the same ones as for your prefolds. It looks like you already have a good number of covers.
