Making Baby Food Question

So I decided to dive into trying to make some food for T. So far I have been mainly using the Gerber food containers for his main fruit and veggie for the day. I was looking at some of the websites and Wholesome Baby Foods suggests this food processor:

The only thing I'm confused about is that food processor only has the "chop" and "grind" option. On the food website it mentioned for stage 1, use the "puree" setting, for stage 2 use the "blend", "mix", or "puree" setting, and then for stage 3 to use the "grind" or "chop" setting. This is probably a stupid question, but can I just use the "grind" setting more or less depending on how old my LO is and be fine??? Or does someone have a food processor you'd recommend that has multiple settings. I feel like I'm over thinking this but I'm nervous about doing this! =)

i think it'd be fine. we have the baby version of the cuisinart where it both steams and purees in the same container and depending on how "chunky" we want the food determines how long we chop/grind/puree. For example, if we're making carrots and want it super smooth, we puree it for 30 seconds. If we want it more chunky, maybe only 15 seconds.

I'm also using the baby bullet and love it. I have even put turkey in it and its nice and puréed with no chunks. That is the one I recommend, no advice on the other one you mentioned. The bullet also comes with nice storage containers for the fridge and a tray with a lid for the freezer.

Ive used my regular kitchenaid food processor with only one setting just fine. I had a little harder time getting the green beans and peas smoot, which i heard can be a little harder, but he's done well with them.

I've given up making my own food. Other than sweet potato and squash, nothing ever blended well.

I use a hand blender (immersion blender) and it works great.

I'm not sure about the settings on a food processor because we have a baby food maker, not a food processor. We use the Nuk Freshfoods Cook-n-Blend Baby Food Maker and really like it. I would highly recommend it!

Were you adding a little bit of water or the water that cooked off the steamed food as appropriate? We have never had a problem with blending when we have done that, and we have done at least ten foods now from pears and apples to green beans and peas.

I use my Black and Decker blender. Last night I made sweet potato purée. For that blender, the purée option is a high setting so I was having problems with the sweet potato being pushed up and away from the blades. So I used the low option of purée which is blend. I think it came out fine.

I agree with PP about doing more or less increments. And maybe add less or more water to help smooth it out in the beginning.

We use an immersion blender as well and it is fantastic. I make a big batch and then fill an ice cube tray with purée. Once it is frozen, I put the ice cubes in a freezer bag and thaw out a couple at a time for meals.

I actually have that blender and it works well as long as you don't over stuff it. I alternate between the grind and the chop because one goes clockwise, the other counter. I really wanted one that does the steaming and blending in one but money was tight and I got that blender on sale for $34. I agree add a little water to help. When I do a chicken or turkey batch, grind the meat first. Then add your sweet potato or other veggie.

I make all of my baby food and just use a normal blender and use the purée button. Mine have been great texture and consistency!
