Intro (TTC #2--baby mentioned)

Hi, all! I've been lurking here for a while and wanted to take a minute to introduce myself properly. I'm 39 (40 in March), and my husband and I have a six-month-old daughter. I followed this board while we were TTC DD and know it's a great, supportive group. I'm looking forward to participating this time around!

I'm in the process of weaning DD completely, and we plan to start trying actively as soon as my cycle gets somewhat predictable (currently CD 87 and counting--yech. I took Domperidone to maintain a milk supply, which made things much worse. If anyone here has had experience with that, I'd love to hear about it.)

I'm feeling slightly guilty about weaning, trying again so soon, etc, but my doctor reminds me that time is not on my side, and I'd really like DD to have a sibling (I'm glad I do, after all....) Anyway, I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you!

Welcome! Many of us don't yet have LOs or BF/weaning experience, but hopefully someone can share an experience or two with you. It's a magnificent board! <:-P

I've been lurking here too since we are about to start TTC #2. I also have a 6 month old and started weaning from bf'ing around 5 months. I cried the first night because I also felt selfish because I only did it so we could start trying again in January. Just wanted you to know you are not alone! And good luck! I may have to do an intro now too

I'm so glad you shared this b/c I too was feeling guilty weaning at 2 months, but my doctor pretty much told me the exact same thing -- start trying now, it could take quite some time.  If you want to pm me I can tell you my experience, and also what my cycles have been like since I resumed them right away.  Yeesh.  Glad we have such a similar situation, @davie813.

Welcome. I think you are the third new member that had a very young child and are trying for #2 right away. So just know you are not alone. I wish you luck with the weaning. My kids were older (1 and 10 months) when I weaned but you did it for the most important time in the beginning so don't feel guilty. Hot showers will be your friend.
We will support you the best we can.

Welcome....hope your stay is short:-) please don't feel guilty...my son was early and I could only give him colustrum...the nurses reassured me its the best part..as moms we have so much guilt...sometimes we have to make difficult decisions . Most of us here with lo started again soon:-)

@hooligans, thanks for the reassurance (and practical advice).

@Samuelismomma, you're right; we give ourselves way too hard a time. DD was also (slightly) early, so even with the Domperidone (and a bunch of other stuff), she was mainly formula-fed, at times, right from the very beginning. Which I was totally OK with, so who knows why it's an issue now...

I just looked at is board and found your post. We are in the same boat. LO was born 5/4 and I turned 35 on 5/7. Bf ended at 5 months and AF returned 31 days later. Only have had 2 periods and am currently testing with my Clear Blue Easy ovulation kit every day since it tells me to. We are day 22 since the first day of my LMP. Still no O. I almost feel more pressure this go around than last time.it took us over 2 years for the first one, Hang In there. Maybe we need a new board for this?

@Harleykins: thanks for the solidarity, and hang in there as well! It seems like there are a lot of TTC After 35ers in similar situations, so it's good to know we're not alone. I hope you get your positive opk soon (I JUST, finally, got AF back myself, so no idea if I'm ovulating...)

I am 36 and BFing my DS at 11 months. I originally planned on BFing as long as possible, but now I may start to wean at 12 months so my period returns and we can TTC. Good luck to you and see you around this community!
