Do your stretch marks burn/sting?

Mine have been getting worse every day. I've been using lotion to keep the itching at bay. Now all of the sudden they burn and sting. I know my skin is tearing, but I'm wondering if anybody else is having this problem? I'm half expecting them to start bleeding at this point.

Re: Do your stretch marks burn/sting?

  • I only have one itty bitty one, and I'm not even 100% sure it's a stretch mark. It's right above my belly button where I had some scar tissue from 2 belly button piercings, so it could be just funny because of that. But anyway, mine doesn't hurt, it actually itches a little bit.

That sounds painful, though. Sorry to hear that. :(

  • I have some moles and freckles on my belly that have been stretching a lot lately. These past few days they have been crazy itchy and they sometimes burns. I feel like they are going to tear because they have become so raw. I'm trying to keep them moisturized.

  • I've had some areas on my belly that when touched felt like searing pain. When I was in college I had shingles, and the burning feels very similar. Anyways, keep going with the extra llotion and hopefully it goes away in a few days.
  • Mine itch and burn. I never knew they were painful as well as unsightly. Ugh! I use lotion (Mama Bee from Burt's Bees) and it seems to help. But it's still unpleasant.
  • I only have them on my boobs and they just itch. The skin over the top of my belly, even though there are no stretch marks does feel like it is burning / numb. It's a bizarre feeling.
  • I have stretch marks from when I was a teenager and had a growth spurt, but to avoid/minimize new stretch marks I lube up my boobs, belly and hips twice a day.  After I hop out of the shower I pat myself dry and slather coconut oil in the AM and Burt's Bee's Mama Bee Body Oil in the PM. I tried cocoa butter, but learned that I've become allergic to it and broke out into a horrible rash.

  • Yes. They did with DS too. My stretch marks have stretch marks...
  • Thanks for the input ladies. Glad I'm not alone. I lotion like a mad woman, but it hasn't done a lot of good. I'll mention it to my OB on Tuesday if they are still stinging. Although for those of you with very red marks, I started using Vit E oil a couple weeks ago and mine already are not as red/purple as they were before.

  • I just realized I have some now. They looked like prominent blood vessels for the longest time, but over the last week they've become red and stretch marky looking. And yes, they burn and sting. I actually was just noticing that I can't rest my iPad on my stomach when I opened this post.

  • Mine were doing that a lot.  I've managed to get it down with oatmeal baths and crazy amounts of lotion.  I also switched shower gels to one of the dove cooling gels (cucumber and something).  I don't know what has worked best, but the combination has been amazing!  I definitely recommend trying the oatmeal bath!  That was my lifesaver!

  • I've been using a stretch mark lotion on the areas where I'm noticing them more (I have so many on my boobs and only a few on my stomach, so luckily the boob ones aren't pulled as tight as belly ones) and it helps a little. I am going to try the Vit E suggestion to help with the coloring. I have been also using Clinique's Body Butter and it really helps with itchy skin because it is thick and super creamy.

  • Mine are purple. How cute! When I was on bed rest, I talked to my nurse about it because they came on so fast they were painful. Like others have said it felt like my skin was tearing! She said it's normal and it sucks and some women's actually DO tear! WTF body?

  • I swear by Aveeno because it's so thick and lasts forever. I start with a generous layer of Bio Oil then top it off with several squirts of extra moisturizing Aveeno lotion twice a day. I'm so sorry you are in pain.... The idea to put lotion in the fridge is brilliant tho! I don't have any marks (yet) but I have a mole that has stretched out huge! Not sure what that thing is gonna look like when all is said and done. LOL

  • I only have a couple stretch marks on my lower belly but just this week noticed they have been burning and super itchy too. I know what you mean by the tearing skin feeling. Lotion lotion lotion I guess!
  • I got 90% of mine with my 1st, and yes, they itched and stung really bad for 3 months. Nothing helped, besides sitting in undies and bra with the a/c cranked up and blowing on me (pregnant in the summer sucks!!!) I just had to wait until he was born.

  • Mine itch, burn and sting so much. Actually, the skin on my bump is stretched out so much that its numb. I run my finger on my bump and I can't feel anything.. I've been using creamy baby oil to keep it from burning too much.

  • I haven't had to deal with stretch marks until I was in my first week of my 9th month. They started to itch, then turned into a burn. They were all in my lower tummy area below my belly button. They came in pretty fast too so im guessing that's one reason. I use Aveeno oatmeal body wash and Jergens stretch mark cream and they both do wonders for me.
